I have been using Syn oil since the 70's as a kid and got dad to use in family cars. I have had great luck and always justified it by it extending the oil change interval by 2x or more.

To have a Hybrid and not use syn oil, doesn't make sense. Why spend the money for the car and not get the best MPG and the least harm to the planet?

A good friend and mechanic says that if you are going to push oil past 7K you should change out filter at 5K. He agrees that even dino oil is good for more thank 5K for most drivers and engines, but does worry about extra crap that gets into the oil over time. However, he will not touch my HS.... other than to drive it and play with all the neat toys. He seems to really enjoy the LKA!

For just a few extra bucks, I will stay with my Mobil 1 (back from Amzoil!) Other than a few dollars now, what's the harm and over the life of the car, I have close to 3/4 million miles on syn oil and no issues. I will change my oil between 6,500 and 7,500 miles to keep from having to do the filter at 5K!
