Post Why does the media not understand the HS250h?

Hello HS forum.

I am assuming that the people who come to this forum are actual HS250h owners, and I feel bad for you guys. Every single review of this car I read compares it to the Prius, says it's over-priced, and does not get gas mileage.

Clearly, these guys don't get it. Why is so damn wrong to have a small, fuel efficient luxury car?

I run a little parent-themed automotive website (I hate to call it a blog) and recently I obtained the HS250h press car for a weekend. And I liked it!

While my review of it may be a bit unconventional, please check out. I really want to know if I “get it”. The one commenter, and HS owner, seems to think so.

I try to be honest, point out the good and the bad, and I hope that my review is helpful to anyone shopping for an HS. Any and all feedback is appreciated. Thank you.

You're right. They are in the wrong to compare it to a Prius.

I'd say it's a Corolla - in disguise.

This is utter nonsense. The HS cannot be compared to a Prius or Leaf or anything in that class. The CLOSEST thing I would compare it to is either the Camry H (which of course share the same engine) and the Fusion. Anything else is simply unfair as the size, weight and class are different. I have driven all 3 and picked the 250h (though the Camry H was close).

i think the reason they compare it to the prius is because they assume it looks similar (i know i know its different but look at it from someone who doesnt know cars) plus it has similar traits

Here are my thoughts -

Prius is NOT LEXUS!

Corolla is NOT LEXUS either

Camry is NOT LEXUS either

We're a family of four and Prius was never in consideration!

Corolla was never in my consideration even in last 15 years!

I've drove Camrys for last 15 years and didn't want a Camry again even if it was a hybrid. (although I had the last one for almost 10 years and it was still almost as quiet as it was when new!)

I bought mine in May and the candidates in order were -
1. Lexus HS250h
2. Lexus ES350
3. Acura TL

Notice no Ford, Lincoln or even Cadillac.

The comparisons can't be fair unless you understand and use all the technical features - one example, once your engine warms up, which is within 30 secs on a warm day, if you don't accelerate hard, and if the speed limit is 30, you can drive upto 2 miles on just electric - more than enough to get me out of my residential neighborhood onto highway!
Now if you can't handle these technical details, which my wife can't, this is not the right car for you.

Funny your wife out of the club. Mine to. She calls it a space ship. I did get the wood package and it has win he over a little more. BUT who cares - I love the car and that's all there is to it.:
Nay sayers , wannabees I am not here to convince anyone, I have the premium package and love all the options. The only thing I am not happy with is the lock out when driving on the Navi- BUT it's what it is!

I agree JamesDemo. I'm not too concerned what others think, as long as I like the car (which I really do!). Doesn't matter to me if someone else doesn't. Besides, that means there might be less of the same car on the road.
