Extended Warranty?
At the end of this month my wonderful HS250h is at the end of the factory warranty. I was wondering if anyone has had major issues after the 48 month warranty had elapsed, should I spend $2500 for an extended warranty, or should I take my chances and trust the quality of Lexus.
Thanks
Thanks

I think Costco sells one for way cheaper. I was thinking on the order of $700 or $800.

That does seem like a lot - maybe it's the battery? How many miles/years does that amount cover?
In general, like any insurance, they wouldn't sell it if they didn't come out ahead. But if your personal financial situation can't bear a major expense, then it might be worth it. I'm just scratching my head wondering how many failures would cost more than $2500. I've owned 5 cars past 120k miles, and none of them cost me $2500 total to repair (not including maintenance like brakes and timing belt). And that includes a VW and a Saab.
Then again, they weren't hybrids. Though everything I've read about the Prius battery is they've had few issues, even the ones that have been on the road now 10 years. And I'm 99% sure we have the same battery technology as the Prius, just maybe bigger.

Thanks for your replies. I was leaning toward no extended warranty, and your comments have cemented that decision. I would try Costco, but I'm in Canada and they don't offer extended warranties here.
