MPG Calculation
Full tank, the gauge displays 412 Miles Cruising. HS fuel tank is 14.5 gallons that would give me 28.4 MPG
Does the Cruise Miles adjust based on my driving?
another display say I am averaging around 33.4 mpg - does not add up.

You have about 2 gallons in reserved tank. I can only fill up to 12.5 gallons when the fuel light is on. My HS has been on average 35mpg through this summer.

that makes sense. Thank you. its hard to get the 35 MPG unless its all highway. I have the car in ECO mode at all times and try to keep it in blue and green section. i still have not been able to average 35 - the best i seen is 34 so far.
i do have new tires almost week old.

New tires often will decrease MPG a bit.

mpg can also vary by driving habits. You sound like you're doing all the right things, but sometimes traffic can force you otherwise. Are you in NYC? My guess is true bumper-bumper traffic in summer, with the AC blasting, would drive down mpg. I'm in NC, mix of highway and town, and get ~36-37.

The AC will drain your battery fast, and the engine will come on to recharge it. Try it sometime - sit parked on a hot day with the car and AC on. I get maybe 5-7 minutes before the battery is gone and the engine fires up. On a cool day, yes, the car will use very little gas while sitting in traffic. Check your mpg again in October - it should rise to the mid-30's.

Bumper to Bumper in NYC? From one light to the next? You need to keep your finger on EV Mode and learn how to use it. Read these forums here and practice. You should be near upper 30's to near 40 in the city.

Sitting there in Park, the engine will come on at 114 F and run until it reaches 135 F, and sit there and cycle on and off all day like that until you drive away or shut it off.

The MPG numbers dont add up -
when I filled up the tank a week ago it indicated I have 412 miles cursing range. I averaged 36.2 MPG on this tank. The gas light came on when i had 7 miles cruise range today. The total miles I drove around 410 miles. according to my average I should be close to 432 before the light should have come on.....

In my experience, the computer reads about 1.5 mpg high. So if it says 36.2, you might be getting only 34.7 when calculating "actual" (miles driven divided by gas put in on refill). Not sure the "distance to empty" is all that accurate either. It usually errs way to the conservative side.

Disappointing mpg so far
After two tank fills, I've noticed that the trip computer is usually off by as much as 3 mpg's. Been consistently in the mid 31's (dividing miles traveled to gallons pumped in) while the trip computer shows nearly 34. Now this is 95% my wife driving the car to work. She drives in Eco mode and has no idea how to hypermile. She does go in EV mode when bumper to bumper but the batteries last maybe 5 minutes because of the AC. Gas here is E10 but there's one gas station that has E0 for about 20 cents more a gallon. Maybe I'll try that.
It just kinda sucks that I expected this car to have better mileage than my 2003 Honda civic which I consistently get 31-34 mpg's.

it is little deceiving, because I just did a calculation after filling my tank > reset the trip A to zero > drove 356.6 and did the refile yesterday - (same gas station) total gallons > 11.1 -
356.6/11.1 = 32.1 MPG.
Lexus was indicating I was was averaging 35.4
I am also monitoring this tank, will keep you posted -
