Frequency of Oil Change

Frequency of Oil Change
I have a 2011 HS 250h. My car gives me a reminder to change the oil every 5000 miles. However, when I take it in to the Lexus dealership here, they tell me I only need to change the oil every 10,000 miles. I called another Lexus dealership and asked them the same question and their first answer was to change the oil every 5,000 miles, but after I told them about the conversation with my local Lexus dealership, they agreed that every 10,000 miles is okay.
Even though it is synthetic oil, 10,000 miles doesn't sound right. My vehicle lets me know every 5,000 miles that it is time to change the oil. Which should I believe?

according to Manual for 2011 HS250H - if you look at page 48 and below it indicates every 10K Oil change unless you NOT using 0W-20 oil

Thanks for the information. I didn't see it at first, but it's there. I googled the topic before posting here and got both answers (every 5k and 10k), but I feel better about waiting every 10k now.

we had this discussion on the forum a few years ago. Apparently the original spec was 5k but they changed it to 10k. The owner manuals got updated but the ECU code didn't. When I took my 2010 in for 5k service, they didn't change the oil. So after a few times I stopped taking it in for the 5k, and just reset the light myself. now it's once per 10k - I don't need to spend $80 and time at the dealer just to have a guy "check everything".

Lexus wants you to go to the dealer every 5,000 miles to help them pay the rent. Allegedly so they can rotate your tires and check fluids for $200 while you eat free donuts and coffee. Your local gas station/tire store/independent repair place can do the same thing for $25. It does help to rotate the tires every 5,000 miles, they last longer as the fronts wear out much faster otherwise.

Remember the maintenance light reset procedure is in the owners manual. And if you have the NAV, you can play around with the reminder settings and have your tire rotate mileage come on at a certain time, and your oil change reminder come on at another.
