Default Traction Battery Preservation Mode

Hey All:

Slight update to the post below this one (Put it in a new thread since the title is different).
Now the error is "Traction Battery Preservation Mode Restart after shifting the P Position".
This was after the car died on the highway (slowly by forcing speed reduction down to zero and then switching to electric mode only).
The battery graphic on the screen shows down to 1 purple or 0 bars.
The car now won't start - supposedly this is because it needs some sort of battery life to get it going.
The question is - do I just need to have this battery charged up somehow? (Dealer?) or is possibly worse than that (needs to be replaced)

Thanks

You need a hybrid shop or Toyota or Lexus dealer to diagnose it. It may be as simple as your 12 volt battery died, or it may be that some of the cells in your traction battery failed, or some controller component. Charging it is not the answer since it will not start. A hybrid shop can replace the dead cells in your battery instead of the whole battery if that is the situation.
If you are in the Philadelphia area I found this independent hybrid shop as a dealer alternative, you can check them on Yelp etc yourself but they seem to have great reviews
