I recently purchased a Lexus HS250h with the halogen headlights and wanted to convert them to full LED, as I find the stock halogens to be quite dim at night. I have already converted the low-beams to LED, but I was wondering if I were to convert the high-beams to LEDs, would I lose DRL functionality?
Yes you would lose DRL. Don't do it.
Do you actually see any better or is it worse with the low beam LED bulbs?
The headlight housings are not designed to project light from an LED bulb, they work better with Halogen, which is why I did the H11 to H9 conversion to make things brighter. Google it or search this forum or many other forums for more information as it is a popular conversion done on many vehicles.
Huge difference at night. Light is much cleaner than from stock Halogens and you get a better beam width/pattern. Plus, the way the bulbs are manufactured, they won't blind oncoming drivers. Sylvania also manufactures an LED version of the DRL lights as well-those lights outboard of the low beams. I did replace them with a slight improvement in visibility. Bulbs were only $20/Pair.

Did you end up installing the Sylvania LED DRL/high-beam bulb in your HS250h? If so, did you end up losing DRL functionality? I was looking at LED bulbs for the high-beams, but I am currently on the fence about whether or not I should install LED DRL/high-beam bulbs if I would end up losing DRL functionality.
I tried all kinds of LED bulbs, some very expensive, for a H7 projector light, all were dim and unfocused.
This MINI7 bulb with a CREE XHP50 LED chip with a dome lens, radiates light spherically just like a halogen bulb, works well with a projector light, very bright and focused white light beam, sold by Walmart for only $7.59 . They also make bulbs using the same CREE chip with 9005 and 9006 sockets and connectors. These bulbs are popular.

Are these a quick remove the old one and install the new one type of work? Anything else needs to be modified? I would like to install one and compare with the stock one at night.
The bulb fits in socket, no modification required. There is a fan behind the bulb's base. Don't how that will interfere with your car.

My 2011 HS250h uses an H11 low beam headlight bulb. 9005 is the high beam bulb.
I suspect most have that H11 low beam halogen bulb unless they have HID or LED. Where did you get the 9006 information?
There are many aftermarket H11 LED replacement bulbs available at many places online for various prices. Many under $40 on Amazon.
These bulbs just twist into place like your old H11 bulbs, easy. Some of them allow you to line them up so the LEDs face side to side. Some of the newer ones have a 6 or 8 LEDs circling the bulb so it radiates light in all directions like a Halogen bulb.
FYI the wire connector has to be pushed down to remove the old bulb. I found that using a needle nose pliers made it easier to push it down far enough to release the bulb. My finger could not fit to allow it to be pressed down enough.
I tried the 8 sided LED. It did not deliver a bright focused beam.
I am not an optical engineer and have not research this problem.
I suspect the light source has to be at the exact position and also as small as the tiny halogen filament for the beam to focus properly. The dome lens on the CREE chip makes it work.
I also install 3 LED bars, 1 spot beam and 2 flood beams, on the lower lip of my car to light up the road when I need it. The bars each use 6 CREE chips with individual lenses. The spot beam projects a very bright small beam about 5,000 ft ahead. The flood beams are wide, light up both sides of the road for fog. I turn them on only when visibility is bad. Cops may not like them.
New MBZs use LED flood beams for fog lights.
