About 5 weeks ago I wrote a message to the SA and said we need to get on the same page with the trade...and if we can't I want to walk now rather than wait however long until the car arrives. He instantly wrote back asking if it was okay if his Manager called me. I said sure. She called and among other things essentially pledged we'd be using the 'KBB Trade-in-Value' to determine the trade. And she set a date of Feb. 28 for me to bring the car and get the trade value set. That would put it quite close to arrival of the NX. She was sick on that day so we re-set for today. But--she and her boss the Sales Manager reverted back to the 'cash value' as the trade in. That was a classic delay and stall and then bait and switch. I was abundantly clear all along that I wouldn't agree to that. So I agreed to an amount today that was lower than my 'number' but still close and it was the Trade-in value for KBB's Good category (their lowest level for trade ins). Bottom line--I walked away. What bothers me most is how much of my time was tied up for no purpose, leading me to believe this would all work as promised. They'll sell the car in a nanosecond as we all know so they can't lose. But I won't be buying a Lexus from them in the future either. So I'm moving on to another dealer in the Puget Sound who has already agreed to certain baseline aspects to a sale. I'll now have a likely 8 month wait and will get a 2024 NX350h and that's fine. I'll get what I want and won't be jerked around again.
Typical dealer tactics and why I never trade in my cars. I buy the new car and sell the old one at a later time privately. The last time I bought my then new 2017 ES350, it took me 1 hour from the time I arrived at the dealer to drive off, price was negotiated before hand, checked the car, told my salesperson not to wash/detail the car, went into the F&I office, listened to the sales pitch and he already knew I wasn't gonna buy a single thing, wrote the check in full and off I go.
BTW also put in a deposit on a NX350h for my wife a few weeks ago, probably will be 6-9 months wait, which we are OK with. This is at MSRP and no forced add ons. Hopefully I can beat the 1 hour record.

Wife won't allow private sale--doesn't want whackos coming to our residence. Otherwise that's what I'd do for sure.

I hear you. we are living in a pretty nutty world nowadays.
What I do is I set up meet up place like in front a Target, I ask my CCW buddy to back me up, he get a nice lunch on a Saturday. Only one person test drive and cash has be to shown before hand. The cars I sell are more than 10+ years old, so it is worth more than $10K. Final cash transaction must be done INSIDE a bank of my choice.

I exchanged a few emails with a very pleasant and informative sales person, Pauline Ushigusa, at Spokane Lexus. Not sure of the dealer's actual sales practices, but I would've seriously considered them had their wait not been so long last summer. Unfortunately, Spokane Lexus does have mandatory added accessories. Just another dealer to consider, if you haven't already.

When would we expect dealers in the US to get the 2024 NX on their lots?
