Distance to Empty - Not even close

The gas tank issue is annoying but I am still getting correct range at least.
The really weird thing is, why does the gauge show full when there are clearly 3-4 more gallons of room. Perhaps the sensor sits low in the tank?
This is an unfortunate quality of life issue since we dont know how much overfilling is actually bad since it can clog fume valves if overfilled too much. If the tank would give us our actual 17 gallons instead of 12, we would have an easy 500 miles of range per tank.

Either way, it’s wrong (and a first-world problem). No sexism here, but ours is my wife’s RX, so I’ll just fill it when it says it wants gas. Makes my world easier than having to second guess actual remaining range. She was keenly and actively disinterested when I said ‘just keep driving it, my math says you have up to 120 miles of range left when it says zero’.

I get gas when my 350h indicates 1/2 full. It usually allows me to put 7-8 gallons in if I pump very slow. The fuel system has a flaw as at any station, if I fuel at full speed or even close to full speed the pump will kick off after only a few gallons.

When does the low fuel indicator come on? I am down to 22 miles distance to empty - no low fuel light. The manual says it comes on at 2.8 gallons remaining. I am getting 22mpg (350), so shouldn't it have come on at 61 miles distance to empty? I'm going for gas later, let's see how much fuel it takes.

Well here is an odd variation on the comments relating to Distance to empty... I put the gas nozzle on slow fill auto shutoff. DTE start mileage was 22. Filled the tank until nozzle tripped off and then squeezed another few squirts in totally 13 gallons. Distance to empty now reads 425. I then drove about 6 miles and let the vehicle sit for 90 minutes. I went to another gas station very close by and based on some comments here... I tried to see how much more I could add, still using slow fill speed. I could barely squeeze in one more gallon. BUT...THE DISTANCE TO EMPTY DID NOT INCREMENT PAST THE 425 DTE MARK!!! I would have expected it to increment something near another 27 miles. Didn't happen.
For those saying "deal with it" I would disagree. This is like saying if you bought the expensive sound system but couldn't get anything more than level 2 sound out of it... just deal with it. I think they are just waiting until the user satisfaction hits some kind of pain point. This is an engineering fail. This will cause people on longer trips to start looking for gas stations in remote areas when they don't need to. Thanks for listening....

I have not taken the time to read all of the posts in this thread so my question may have been addressed. I also only have a 2022 RXh but am following here because I am considering trading my Merecedes on a 350h.
Does anyone actually know the algorithim used to compute DTE and how often it is updated? I ask this because when I am traveling and my tank show near 1/4 I start to watch DTE as I plan my next fuel stop. I may even start to drive more conservatively. When slowing down, I have seen my DTE actually increase as I was driving. Seeing that I just assumed that it took some level of "most recent" fuel useage and used that to calculate DTE. What I don't recall is at what ftrequency the value updates.
