They will not find anything wrong. They are clueless and think everything is working fine. I usually get around 400 mile on a tank when I put my 10-11 gallons in to make it full. No one knows what happened to the other 6-7 gallons.

The answer I received by my dealership, is that extra fuel is to cool the fuel pump in the gas tank.

So, I would use the distance to empty as a guide, and fill up when you can.
And, thank your lucky stars when the gas station is further then the gas you think you have left to get there.

pretty poor design if almost 25% of the fuel supply won’t let itself be used

It will let tself be used, it just doesn't let you know that it's there, or how much further you can go on it.

For what it is worth. I always fill up at Shell ( gas station in my local town, or shell gas stations when on the road , US or canada ) and never had issues . However today, 1st time in over 10k miles I filled up at a Exxon station, and the auto pump kept shutting off. After 4 attempts each getting me 1 additional gallon or so ( ending up with 5 gallons, tank only half full ) the gas attendant gave up. With the tank half full I then went back to my regular Shell station, and had no issues and was able to auto fill up to full in one go, as usual ( = gas tank full according to meter on the dashboard ) .

the only scientific reason that I can see is the rate of flow of gas out of the nozzle. I have noticed when you put it on the slower rate then it minimizes this issue.

I use Shell gas. When I fill up I use the fastest setting till I get to 8 gallons pumped. Then I put it on the slower setting (only has 2 settings) and usually get 2-3 more gallons in before it clicks off with the same result, 10-11 gallons. Where are the other 5-6 gallons. Gauge on dash shows full.

The highest amount of gas I have ever been able to put in once the indicator showed "Refill", had been 15.5 gallons. I remember reading somewhere or in the manual that 2.5 gallons are reserved by the hybrid system or something like that. I remember it stopped at 13 and I waited 15 seconds and then topped off a couple of times till it showed 15.5 gallons. I do agree with those who said we should not top off. So I am not topping off anymore. Right around 12 gallons shows full. And then the indicator shows 495 to empty.

First major long distance road trip with the new RX 350h. The gas light came on - filled it up and it took 18 litres! That is crazy. Like 250 kms to empty.

Was the gauge on the dash reading full after your fill up? 18 litres is less than 5 gallons in a tank that holds over 17 gallons. It sounds like the pump shut off way before it was full. I think that was a pump issue. Lexus gas tank filling issues are never that far off.

Yes, reading full. The pump clicked off a couple times and it is not a good idea to overfill due to mucking with the evap lines and canister,

2024 RX450h+ Refill indicator came on . Filled up 10 miles later and it took 10.1 gallons. I estimate another 75 miles of range at a conservative 30mpg with 2 gallons reserve. 14.5 gallon tank on the 450h+. This is similar to our previous 2013 RX350, which had 60 miles left @ 20 mpg and a 2 gallon reserve.

My tank fills completely if I switch to the lowest flow setting after the first click on full flow. The first time I filled it, I tried adding a bit more after that second click and fuel spilled out.

The HV range is also wildly optimistic when filled up, indicating 557 miles, though that has fallen to 507 with the last fill. Actual range is around 375-500 miles with 2 gal reserve, and a realistic range of 437 miles @ 35 mpg(epa combined rating) I call it a solid 400 mile range for road trips. Of course, any battery charge along the way can boost that considerably... We charge whenever it is convenient.

Another datum. Did 690 kms at 120-ish kph and after miles and miles of low fuel warning, I gassed up. Took 51 liters on a 65 liter tank. So 14 liters (or about 200 kms at highway speed) remained. Interestingly the screen should the new range at 736 kms when previously it was 660 I think. I wonder if it is heuristic. Regardless, it would be nice if the fuel light would come on a litter closer to tank empty.

supposedly i had 55 miles left to empty yet it took only 10 gallons of gas …just crazy if it’s a 17.2 gallon tank

and forcing more gas in isn’t a solution to what seems to be a problem since you don’t know how much s to much
