When the AC is on in the RX350h and you come to a stop, does the engine turn off or does it stay running as long as the AC is on? Is the AC compressor just tied to the 4cyl. engine?

The AC has it own electric motor and does not depend on the vehicle engine. The AC compressor motor uses the traction batteries under your rear seat.

If the vehicle is stopped too long the gas motor will start to recharge the traction batteries.
