Just bought 2006 RX400h... concerned
Hello everyone!
I just bought a meticulously maintained 2006 RX400H with impeccable service/maintenance records all up to date. The car is AMAZING! This is my second Lexus Hybrid. My other one is a CT so its newer and gets really strong gas mileage. I have done the research on what this car should get, and I am only averaging 20. I have owned the car for 1 week. Should I be concerned that something is wrong? Could the hybrid battery actually be on its way out? The car has 125K miles on it. All service and checks done at Lexus. Just paranoid I made a mistake!

How are you calculating the mileage?

There are two modes on the display, yes? Try resetting them to zero. Lifetime on my 2006 Highlander hybrid is 26.5 mpg about 50% is freeway driven.

I did the reset, and I have been being super careful to drive appropriately, LOL. I am not used to this much of a car - or V6. I have mostly done around town and have already increased to 25.5. This seems promising! Would love to get higher...

Yes reset and let the car learn your driving style. I have 28.4 MPG and on a long drive to the South of France I got up to 32MPG. I found the cruise control was more effective at getting best results as opposed to my lead weight dogs.
