Odometer vs. remaining miles vs. actual distance
Apologies if this has been addressed but couldnt find it with basic search. Also Newbie to the forum and newbie to Lexus. Got a NX450h+ PHEV and have about 4000 miles on it.
Recently noticed that the remaining miles in HV mode decreases faster than the actual miles/odometer readings.
When filled with gas, the remaining mile range give me 415 miles. But by the time we drive 300 miles, this remaining range is almost 50miles left.
Dealer says its how you drive. but I have carried out this experiement when driving at 30mph, 40mph, 60mph. All while coasting, I see the remaining miles decreasing much faster than the odometer reading.
I can understand +/- 10% variation but this is 20% liower. MyVolt never had any issues providing me an exact range.
So here is a question to see if this is a real problem :
If you have this model, when you fill gas, how much is the HV range?
When you drive, do you see the range goes down much faster than the actual miles traveled?
Should i be worried about or escalate or is this part of learning?
Best Regards

Not that this will help but my understanding is that the computer generated calculation for range is based on temperatures (weather), number of accessories drawing power (heat eg), driving demands for power (speed, hills) whereas the miles driven is based on actual miles driven. The other complication is the amount of power derived from the fuel and battery is a combination of the two in varying percentages in the hybrid mode.
When I fill the car with gas the range shown is usually in the 750 km (460 miles) range and lately a full battery charge for me is an additional 80km range (49miles).
Hope I haven't confused your issue. I never count on the expected range because of all the variables and just use it as a guide. I do notice the changes but they usually are explained in my case by the variables that Ive mentioned.
Hang in there and just enjoy the ride
