Default 2024 NX 350h gas gauge

I have a brand new 2024 Lexus NX 350 h. My gas gauge does not register as full when I fill it up and “miles until empty” also does not change. I’ve brought it back to the dealer, and they were unable to locate the problem. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you.

"Unable to repair" actually means "don't want to repair".
The NX service manual,which all dealers have access to online, provides a simple 3-step process to determine what component is at fault.
This is not rocket science; the NX fuel level measurement technology dates back to the 1930s, so more than 80 years old. Refer to attached image copied from the non-hybrid model manual.

After running the 3-step diagnostic, there will be one of these 3 repair options suggested:
1. Replace the fuel sender assembly;
2. Replace the instrument gauge cluster (called "combination meter" by Lexus);
3. Repair the wiring harness or connector(s) between the sender and gauge.

I suspect they have already run the diagnostics and it recommends replacement of the sender. This is an unpleasant job, because the fuel tank must be removed to access the sender. It is less work to replace the entire fuel pump and sender assembly, but Lexus probably will not reimburse them for that. If you decide to try a different dealer, try to be thoughtful and solicit their appreciation by arriving for the eventual repair with the tank less than 1/4 full.

Another option is to phone Lexus Customer Service. Simply tell them your fuel gauge is not working correctly (provide more details only if they ask) and your dealer cannot locate the problem. Ask if they have a field engineer who can assist your dealer. Be calm and try to avoid any expressions of annoyance or frustration.

So…the dealer contacted me. They want me to bring the car in - when I have 1/4 tank! Thank you!
