Default 2024 NX350h Brakes Grab

I find that when I apply the brakes with even pressure the car slows down evenly until the very end when the brakes grab and the car stops suddenly. The only way to stop smoothly is to release the brake pedal and reapply pressure. I find this makes braking very jerky especially in low speed parking situations. Anyone else has this issue?

Same issue on my 2023 NX 350 turbo.

It appears that Lexus has a 'two' position pressure threshold on their braking system.

Over notice you have the brake engaged, car not moving, but you have to press the brake 'harder' to change gears? Two position pressure threshold.

Not linear brake peddle pressure like older cars had.

That's a common characteristic of hybrid vehicles. It's the hand off from regen braking to hydraulic.

Yes, accurate and very common with ToyLex hybrids going back thru several generations of their hybrids.

Thank you for all the responses. So now I have to re-learn how to brake. So what is the technique I should use come to a smooth stop when I brake.

try to feather it… very annoying. Good if you need to brake in a hurry. However for 98% of your driving it’s almost a challenge to see if you can brake smoothly every stop. Driving any car after the NX will feel like the brakes don’t work.

I either have to drive extremely sedate and use only regen till the last 5 feet, or drive rushed and get into hydraulic from about 30+mph, so it’s already into that progressive zone. If you drive sedately in Sport mode, the hydraulics do ramp in correctly and smoothly from regen, but you just have to remember to turn it on every time.
