Was just cleaning and removing leaves and crap from the engine compartment and I notice there is a belt on the front of the engine.
Does anyone know what the belt is for?
I know the hybrid does not have an alternator and the air con compressor is electric so what does the belt driving or used for? To drive the water pump?

Have you noticed how quickly the engine coolant reaches typical operating temperature - even during the coldest of winter?
Lexus has a 'sophisticated' Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) that helps the engine reach its typical operating temperature quickly and this aids the coolant to reach its typical operating temperature quickly too.

Thanks @bclexus for the diagram it makes perfect sense. I'm use to seeing no belt on the Q50 hybrid engine as the aircon, waterpump etc are all electric.
BTW our winters temperatures are mild in Sydney Australia 5-20DegC (40F - 68F) compared to the rest of the world. We're lucky to not have to worry about snow etc.
