That was very brave thing to do. I thought draining the reserve would damage the system?

I always stress whenever the Prius tank goes close to E, even though I know there is a reserve.

If done routinely, it might damage the system, but a few times in a vehicle's lifetime should not hurt it.

It was a bit stressful to completely run it empty, because it was something no one else had done before, but having the EV capability took a lot of the stress out. As soon as it ran out, I drove it to the gas station and refilled it. That isn't really an option for the other RXs. You'd have to carry gas with you, and be in danger of running out at an inopportune moment.

I'm too chicken for that. I'd just confirm the specs by researching and asking the manufacturer. It's not like it's a top secret info

People were claiming that Lexus was not giving the true fuel capacity and/or that the claimed capacity wasn't all usable. I'm the kind that likes to prove things in a practical fashion...

The 450h+ has a smaller fuel tank as well. 55 liters (14.5 gal) vs 65 liters (17.2 gal) because of the bigger battery, and total range probably less than the 350h.
I would tell the OP that this issue (weight) is very important. I have a 2024 RX-350h and a few days ago got surprised by a decreasing radius turn. I really pushed the RX to complete the turn and felt the weight like never before, the suspension felt out of place and the tires felt like they were going to give up. If the 450h+ is heavier than my 350h and has worst handling I would not buy it.

At least one magazine found that the RX450h+ handles better than the RX500h. I have written extensively on this forum on how well the RX450h+ handles, in comparison to the 2013 RX350, which could demonstrate handling attributes similar to what you describe for the RX350h.

I would caution the OP, that this forum often goes into discussing and arguing pedantic minutiae, because they dont have many big (picture) problems to discuss - thanks to Lexus reliability.

So I would recommend to consider the big wants vs haves as differences between the 350h vs 450h+ - and base their decision with specific research/questions on those wants/haves.

For example, in my research phase, I wanted to know as much as possible on any reliability differences between the two - as that was a must have for me. I didnt find any significant difference based on research here and reddit. The lower hp and torque of the 350h was a strong factor for me to go with the 450h+, as was the pure EV characteristics for my horrendous commute.

Both WellsB and wrinkle hit the nail on the head. The RX450h+ handles better and is faster than the RX500h. Of all of the cars that I have owned it handles better than any of them, with the possible exception of my previous 94 Miata R-edition. The icing on the cake is......excellent fuel mileage, to boot.
