Is there a difference with range of fuel economy if you change the drive modes vs leaving it in the Normal mode? Won't the car decide which mode is best for the situation? Please explain how people use it differently. Thanks!

My understanding is that the different modes affect how sensitive the throttle is compared to the accelerator pedal position and don't actually affect the tuning of the engine. Basically, Eco mode makes the throttle less sensitive to accelerator pedal position and Sport mode makes it more sensitive. I just use Normal mode and a custom mode, on twisty roads, that only makes the steering heavier, but doesn't affect the throttle.
Eco mode does change the way the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) system works to achieve some gains there, but the HVAC system can be put in eco mode separately as well. Personally, I leave the HVAC in Normal Mode.
