Unless you are doing something special with car, you do not need to put it in acc mode. That can be customized so you can use the radio and internal lights without being in ACC mode.
That doesn't draw that much battery but in ACC mode I believe other things start running , like hybrid battery cooling fan, etc.

Does anyone seriously think this is an adequate solution to an under powered battery.
Our battery died, put on a charger over night, Wouldn't start, Towed to dealer, they confirmed the battery was "ok" so the answer was "drive the car more frequently" SERIOUSLY?

It wouldn't start AFTER being charged all night? Then the battery is bad. How did the dealer get the car started then, if the battery wouldn't hold a charge? Did they replace it under warranty?

That NOCO is a jump starter, not a charger. For my charger, I have trickle units (Battery Tender) and a brand called Schumacher for fast charging. I like the Schumacher because it shows a display of the battery charge percentage as it charges up, typically you have to get to 65% for the car to start.

After my car died, I put a battery charger on it all night and it did nothing. The battery was too dead to charge it. What worked for me was to boost the car first and let it run for a bit and then used a battery charger. I found this worked. Now I charge the car every few weeks as it sits in the garage in the winter time.

I really don't know what is going on with this battery situation. I have left my 350h locked in the garage for 14 days and did not have any battery issues.

I was planning on installing an AGM battery in my 350h. Does the charge rate need to be adjusted? Can it be adjusted?

Most automatic chargers will not charge a completely depleted battery. That is due to safety circuitry that is looking for a minimum voltage to prove the voltage of a battery. You don't want to charge a 6v or 24v battery with a 12v charger... I've found that using a jump starter will get the battery voltage up enough to start the automatic charger.

With the questionable quality of China made Lithium Ion batteries, I am extremely reluctant to place a jump starter in my trunk on a Texas-hot day. I'll continue with my ancient plug-in battery charger which has enough power to jump start, that I keep in the garage.

What is really needed is a volt meter to keep an eye on the battery charge. I already have one that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket but it's inside the console and already occupied by power to a radar detector. Looking for another solution, possibly a radar detector that also shows volts.

And I posted earlier that mine did NOT work when battery was dead.

How to open the door with the mechanical key is in the deep dive video at 12:30

Here is my almost dead battery story (RX350 Luxury Non-Hybrid). A few months back I noticed that after an auto engine stop, the vehicle would restart with the message "Battery Charging". I would stop at a light, engine would auto stop, after about 10 seconds the engine would restart, and I would see the "Battery Charging" message as the reason for restart. At first, I thought it was because I do a lot of short trips. But then it started happening, even after drives of many hours. During my 10000-mile service I had the service department check the battery and charging system and they could find nothing wrong. Not long after I was in again for a different issue and asked them to check again. This time they were able to get any error code from the battery and replaced it. No problem since. I know this is anecdotal but if you are consistently seeing the Battery Charging message it may be a symptom of a larger issue. It sure would be nice if somewhere in the fancy infotainment system we were able to see the actual battery voltage.

You need a charger that has an "override" mode. The reason your overnight charge did nothing was because the charger couldn't even detect a baseline voltage. They have models that have a button you can press to over ride that, to get the battery "off the ground" initially so it can be charged. Do any of the ones you have, have that feature?

We have a couple older Escort MAX Gen 1 detectors in other cars. These will display battery voltage instead of a preset alert speed, if so configured.
I looked at other Escoprts (plus a Google) and didn't find a voltage display listed as a feature....

Good grief, 60k+ luxury SUV with a battery that requires you to buy all this stuff for just in case! Reminds me of when I bought my first 6 or so beater cars. Cheers

I have so many friends who have had both RX ICE and Hybrid over the last 10 years. None of them have ever had this battery issue we are discussing here. I am wondering if this pandemic has had such bad effect on manufacturing of many car parts including batteries.
