Default 400h Hybrid battery - How to tell if it's been replaced?

I've had my 2006 RX400h for a little over 3 years. Love it. BUT don't want to get stuck w needing to pay the 7k for a new Hybrid battery, so looking to replace the car soon.

I kindof have my eye on a 2008 RX400h - How can you tell if the car has alrdy had the Hybrid battery replaced? The dealership selling it doesn't know if it has been or how to find out.

Also, for it being 2 years younger than mine, it has 75k more miles on it (133k vs 208k).
IF the battery has been replaced, would it be realistic to consider buying it?

You are worrying for nothing these battery packs are highly reliable and even if they do fail replacements are becoming more and more affordable. FYI Toyota hybrids are frequently used in cab fleets they routinely go over 500,000 miles on the original battery.

If you are still paranoid ask the dealer for a Carfax report.

I have access to the CarFax for the 2008, Thank you. But if you look at enough CarFax reports, you know that ALL service records are not always reported or listed.
I'm asking if there's a PHYSICAL way to literally see if the hybrid battery has been replaced by looking at it.

Maybe it depends if an original part was used and how good the mechanic was. To find that out you'll need to take the car to a pro and have them tear down part of the interior.

If the battery was done at a dealer, you can get the service records for free by creating a free account on https://www.lexus.com/My-Lexus
Simply sign in, add the vehicle by entering the VIN and wham bam, you got all the records (dealer only).

I did a brand new battery on my RX 450h and it only cost me $2,400 after ordering the pack directly from China and removing the back seat and doing it myself. Not that difficult if you're somewhat mechanically inclined. It only requires that you have a decent ratchet and socket set. Just something to consider.

Knowing that the 400 hasn't leaked (from rear seams, hinges) into the Hybrid battery cavity is key. Clues are rust spots under the trunk boards.

You can check traction battery cells with Dr Prius app and OBD plug-in

The "My Lexus" website is very helpful around maintenance records. I went through the same decision process in April this year, with the exact same concern. I was replacing a 2006 Camry and bought the 2008 RX400h. Prior owner had all his work done at the dealership, I and was able to find out everything that was done. You'll need the VIN, but you can usually refer to the online ad (maybe via Cars.com or the dealer name), and even if work was not completed by the dealer, you'll still get most of it unless the owner did it himself.

This group offers a wealth of information, so become familiar with how to search it for your concern or questions. I'm happy with my choice, except for a few random issues that are inevitable when buying a 16yo used vehicle. The Lexus owner's network is pretty robust.

Thanks for the feedback.
I've been here a little over 3 years. I've solved many issues by reading through the threads and asking questions. Using the search function doesn't always work without alot of scrolling and sifting through the weeds.

My apologies, I thought you literally meant get "A" newer model. Not "the" newer model.
But no reason to get offended.
