Now it's a "Luxury-Hybrid-SUV" from LEXUS; that says it all. I am very excited about this that I can't mod my GS any more for the sake of buying an SUV soon.
If Lexus is putting "Wood" in their hybrid cars, isn't that like shooting themselves in the foot? Aren't they trying to save "trees"?
The prototypes for the RX400h have had NO wood inside.

I went down to the Lexus of Smithtown dealership here out on Long Island to talk about the RX400h with a dealer, I was told I could put my name on a waiting list for a refundable $1,000 deposit. He told me that they would probably get about 6 of these cars per delivery (so every few months) and they would be sold on a first come first serve basis, for about $3,000 more than a similarly equipped RX330. Also went to the NYC Auto show yesterday and saw it for myself, looked fantastic, the front bumper didnt look nearly so cheesy in person, though I think the taillights on the 330 were more attractive (The 400 has sort of clouded lenses on the inside) And there is no wood to be found on the interior. Overall though as far as performance is concerned the car looks like it should be pretty fantastic

i don't think it'll be worth it unless you plan on keeping it for like 6-7 years.

Some people may want one just because it's more enviromentally friendly regardless of how long he/she plans to keep it.

Wood is a renewable resource. Also while trees are growing, they absorb carbon dioxide in the air.

It takes a lot of electricity to separate aluminum from its ore. In the U.S., most electricity comes from burning coal.

Do dealers have specs on these cars yet? Will option lists be the same as the 330 or will there be other options?

Unhappy RX400H delayed again

I am surprised no one has mentioned this yet. My friend, who has an RX400H on order, was told by his Lexus dealer (he went to school with the sales manager) that the RX400H launch will be delayed again to March or later. If you have one on reserve, go bug your dealer and ask him to confirm!!

Yea, the statment on trees is correct. I have been thinking the same thing. The chemicals used to treat leather, and the by products of mining aluminum, have to be worse for the environment, then harvesting trees that can be replanted.

Just my thoughts!

I asked my local dealer and they said they have 17 deposits for the RX400H, and that they will receive their first car in October and receive about 7 or 8 cars per month. Of course I have no idea how accurate these statements are, just relaying what the dealer said.

Anyone have any newer info on the RX400H? I told my local dealer that someone here said they'd been delayed until next Spring and he said he had NOT heard anything like that from Lexus that October was still the target. Again, I don't know how right or wrong he is, just passing on what was said.

Anyone have anything new and solid?

The RX400H release has been delayed until April 2005. Lexus told us a few weeks ago.

I'm curious as why the delay? So there won't be any new releases from Lexus for the remainder of this year? With these gas prices, I'm really interested in a hybrid SUV is the reason I'm asking.

Default REASON FOR DELAY

I hear that the delay has something to do with the batteries.
