Hopefully, the GS460 will have much more than 340hp. IMO, it should definitely be above 375 and closer to 400hp. Besides the hybrid aspect of the GS450h, wouldn't these models be stepping on each other's toes?

My opinion is it should be above 425hp, and closer to 500hp, but on second thought most definitely 800hp

The 400h's power meter includes power generated from BOTH the gas motor and the electric motor, so the bulk of the number range you see on the GS450h's power meter is due to the greatly increased output from the gas motor, 306hp (?) vs. the 400h's 208hp.

I believe that the GS450h could possibly be making up to 370hps, as for the up and coming GS460 new V8 engine, it could be hitting the flat out 400 hp category. The need of more horsepower under the hood is only a matter of time when Lexus will be releasing their own "GT" version of engines and body styles to the existing models to compete with the M series and AMG. Based on the time lines of how they are releasing their new designs of L-Finesse(so far with the RX, GS, and IS) it can take place after the release of the new LS, SC, and LX models. From there it should satisfy all our hp taste buds........MMMMMMM!!!

It's certainly possible. The IS350 makes 87.43 hp per liter. Extrapolating that to a 4.6L engine would make 402 hp.

That said, I think the hp on the GS/LS460 will be more in the 360 hp range.

Time will tell.

Is the 4.6L going to be a bored out version of the current 4.3L, or a brand new engine?

I don't think extrapolating the hp based on hp/L ratio is meaningful at all when talking about two totally different engine families.

Rumors so far say that the 4.6L will be based on the current 4.3L but modified with the direct injection technology, designated as 4UZ-FSE. Reasonable enough, though personally I would love to see an all-new V8 from Lexus in the next LS.

Default Remember this is a Lexus not a Vette

I can't imagine the 460 would jump any more than 25-30 hp. I think the overall power leader will be the hybrid much as it is in the RX. I also will be surprised if the 350 is going to have over 300hp. I would bet it is a tuned down version so it isn't so "peaky". Just a thought.

FYI there's nothing peaky about the new GR engine at all. 90% of the torque is available from 2000rpm all the way up to the 6600rpm redline.

See the dyno chart published at lexus.jp:

I won't be surprised if Lexus doesn't detune the 3.5L V6 at all for the GS hybrid. After all, the GS hybrid is dubbed by Lexus as the first all-out performance hybrid. It won't need to be nearly as green as the RX400h emission and gas mileage-wise.
