How to enter names/numbers in RX400 phonebook MANUALLY???
I’ve had my RX400 SEL for just three days and I absolutely love it.
I'll happily write a long review at some point, but meanwhile I wonder if anyone can help me with a stupid phone problem:-
My BlackBerry 7100 connects fine via Bluetooth but (as some of you may know) BlackBerries cannot send data via Bluetooth – only voice.
So I can’t download my address book direct to the RX400.
“Never mind”, I thought: “I’ll just manually enter names and numbers into the RX400 system’s phone book..”
But I can’t!!!!
I simply cannot find a way to enter a number, give it a name and store it in the phone book.
Surely it’s possible? It must just be me being stupid, right?
But I have spent about an hour on this so far, and have read the manual front to back.
Please don’t tell me this can only be done via Bluetooth from a cell phone…
Thanks for any help!

As I feared Jay - I don't think it can be done. Which is just mad!
I guess the anwser is to borrow a phone which is capable of transmitting a list of contacts.
Your Treo can clearly do that, and I'm told that most Sony Erikssons can, too.
(I have proved for myself that Nokia can't do more than one Contact at a time, and in a really clunky way!)
You really would think there'd be a manual option though, wouldn't you?!?

I too have been unable to find a way to manually add entries to the phone book, but I simply cannot believe they could have made the device this user unfriendly. Someone please tell me that I am missing something! How can you have a phone book that does not allow you to add numbers??!!

9k - I called my Lexus dealer today to check this today. The sales guy I deal with had no idea how to do it manually and said he'd go and ask an engineer and ring me back.
But he sounded decidely dubious.
He didn't ring me back, funnily enough.
But I'm now certain it can't be done, anyway.
In other words, if you don't have a Bluetooth phone capable of sending a whole Address Book at once (i.e. not a Nokia or BlackBerry) you're stuffed. You cannot enter numbers and/or names into the RX's phone book.
Or rather, you can do it with a Nokia, but it'll take you a couple of minutes to transfer EACH contact over one by one. Believe me.
Bit of a joke really...

that's right, you cannot do it manually in the BT system.
i have a nokia GSM with a sim chip. i transferred my chip to my old sony ericsson and transferred the entries that way. saves a lot of time...

OK, I got the contacts intot he phonebook but....
Using my chum's Sony Eriksson, I have Bluetoothed my contacts into the RX400's phonebook - hooray!
Problem: I can see the names in the Phonebook, but they're all 'greyed out' if you know what I mean. I can't actually accesse them.
I am connected to my own BlackBerry by Bluetooth
I have a good strong signal
I am in stationary and in 'park' (tried engine off and engine on)
Identical problem each time: can see the names - can't access them.
Any ideas?!?!?!
Thanks
Martin

Use destinations as phonebook
You cannot enter telephone numbers into the phonebook manually, but you can enter destinations with telephone numbers. You can then dial telephone numbers from the destinations menu.
