When Lexus produces an engine, they need to make sure it will fit into the grand scheme of their company plans. This includes all vehicles, not just one. An while HP may seem like the only variable, torque, transmision compatibility, remaining drivetrain, fuel efficiency and emissions all play a role.

Who knows, maybe the engineering plans for a 4.6 liter that was pitched has some shortfalls in the above list of criteria.
I think spwolf is basing power off the LS460?

Has anyone on this board driven the GS 450h yet? Will the handling be just like the 430, other than then 51/49 weight?

Autoweek called it involving to drive, "unlike some other cars in the class"

as much as we know, 4.6 will have 380hp, 370lbs of torque, 8 speed AT and get mid 20's MPG in heavier LS460.
So I think requirements you listed are not only satisfied but are top of the class.

Maybe mid-20's on Imperial gallons, but not U.S.

The GS450h offers an active rear sway bar I believe to compensate for the big booty.

You maybe missing my point. They may satisfy our requirements all day long, but Lexus may have a longer term plan that might require something different. Admittedly I had forgotten about the 4.6l engine for the LS before I wrote that. But still so, I like to keep an open mind.

Could the GS ever see it's way into Nascar? Is it too heavy?

way too expensive for them to add these stuff and maintain it. might as well just wait for a new engine

Default GS 450h andf run-flat tires

Unless I missed seeing the information, does anyone know if the 450h will come standard with run-flat tires? Since the batteries significantly reduce the trunk space, I thought Lexus might eliminate the need for a spare (like the SC430) by fitting run-flats. My hope is that regular tires are standard.

My dealer called me up to tell me I'm first on the list. He said he had two vehicles of different color. Both had NAV, Mark Levinson and Run Flat Tires. He had left me a message so I'm sure there are other options too.

He has two of different color? Are you saying that he physically has them or knows the whereabouts of these two? I'm cuirous to where EXACTLY are the 450h's now. If they're to be released within the next 30 - 60 days, have they left Japan and are now sitting in warehouse, waiting for the right time and date? Or are they still in Japan on the factory line?

I wouldn't be surprised if run flats are the norm (maybe still an option but predominantly wht dealers end up getting in the small 2000 unit run for the year) to save weight in the porky rear.
