actually, I am pretty sure that I saw lexus press release which mentiones 6 speed AT instead of CVT. This is done probably to help "feeling" of speed.... I will look it up somewhere.

Default The IS motor is longitudinally mounted....

just like the GS and I haven't heard any confirmation of the CVT being used on the GS450h. I need to get some factory feedback.

The only negative on CVT's have been that they can't handle high torque engines. The GS450h will likely have 330hp, and the LS600h will have an 8sp auto. Getting away from CVT's in these performance hybrids might make conventional transmissions nessasary.

Default CVT will be used in the GS450h..

as 1Sicklex reported months ago. I haven't seen a drivetrain layout yet but the autoshow site on Lexus.com is starting to reveal information about the GS450h at least. On the RX400h the power blends between the engine and electric motors at the CVT so you will hear revving of the engine but the power and acceleration are incremental so you don't perceive it like you do when manually shifting gears and feeling that sudden pull after each gear. The electric motors add torque in 10 second bursts and then the gas engine sustains it after that. The IS350's V6 is a powerful engine by itself so this will be analogous to going turbo or supercharging it. Its ideal use would be for passing German cars on the Autobahn.....just kidding.

Has horse power been confirmed on the GS450h? Lexus website says over 300. Do you think it will be over 350?

Now that it's a known fact that the GS460 will put out at least 380hp, it should be safe to expect the GS450h to produce more than 350hp on a proportional calculation basis with the "450" in its nomenclature.

My educated guess is that the GS450h will have 250kw/335.26hp. This is 5kw MORE than BMW's E60 545i. See the link? 545i, GS450h

If I remember correctly, there was a pic of the power meter of the GS450h posted somewhere in this forum. It had a maximum reading of 275kw, which equals to about 369hp. Considering the new 4.6L V8 produces 380hp, this figure sounds about right for a "450".

You mean this one? It doesn't go up to 275kw, otherwise they would have marked it. It goes to 250kw. Look at where the zero is. It's not where the indicators begin.
