I have never used it.then again,I don't live near any big hills/mountains.

Do you use it when going down long steep hills?

nope, i use it if there's a slow car ahead of me and i want to slow down a little. i also use it when i'm taking an exit ramp off a highway and i'm going to fast. it slows the car down just enough for me to take the turn.
