Default Dash - left most gauge - what is it?

We had an RX400h loaner over the weekend and really liked it. However, we could not figure out, definitively despite many 'discussions', exactly what that gauge indicates. There was no manual in the glove box and I am curious - what's the bloody thing for? (this is the kwh gauge with a scale that runs from below 0 to 400)

How much power you're using/asking for. I believe it also goes below zero which means regeneration

Default power meter

the toyota system is unique in that it can provide electric power only or a combination of both the ICE ( internal combustion engine) and electric at any time. when the meter is in the first part pointing to just the black lines generally you are on electric only. above that it is a combination of both ice and electric as nextourer points out depending on how fast you want to go. you get more electric assist the more you push the gas pedal, so sometimes short bursts of speed do not hurt your mph. at the bottom left of the dial is the blue section, that shows energy regeneration via braking and coasting, the deeper into the blue the more regeneration. if the battery is fully charged there will be little or no regenertion.
