Since Toyota/Lexus has reached the limit of 60,000 sold the income tax credit will drop 50% at the end of September. Published RX400h tax credits equal $2200. October 1st these will drop to $1100. April 1st, 2007 they will drop again in half to $550.
If you are going to buy a Lexus hybrid you should do so in September. The 2006's are still coming in here in the Eastern region and a few 2007's will make it this month.

You get $2200 tax credit for RX400H if purcahsed by Sep 30,2006.
It's $1100 if you buy it between Oct 1, 2006 ~ Mar 31, 2007.
And then it's down to $550 if you buy it between Apr 1, 200 ~ Sep 30, 2007

The point that folks should remember on the tax credit is that there is no information that I have seen that it is applicable to the 07 model of the 400h. Only the 2006 400h should be considered if the tax credit is important to a buyer. I don't think many dealers are aware of this and the buyers aren't either. There may be some upset buyers next April when their accountant tells them their purchase of an 07 400h did not qualify for any tax credit. Perhaps that will change though if the credit is renewed or extended and again fully applicable to Toyota/Lexus hybrids.
Here's the link to the IRS page where the vehicles are grouped by model year. This list is as of August 9, 2006. I am not aware that there has been any further updates since then. Hopefully someone has better news on this but that's the latest I could find and consistent with what daloosh reported earlier.
