Default Can NAV be upgraded?

Will we be able to upgrade our Gen4 to Gen5 in the '06 400h? Anyone know?

NO, only updates are the data DVD. The newer Gen5 has more pixels, different computer too. Not that big a deal.

What I really wanted was the adaptive cruise control. It's in my book but never made it to the car....

My 06 IS has a much better NAV than my 400h. Disappointing since the 400h is 13 K more expensive and is supposed to be high tech. Also the 400h is the only Lexus without ventillated seats.

What's your complaints with the 400h Nav?

Assuming the '07 400h has the next NAV generation I would not buy a '06
400h. Compare the NAVs and see what you think.

We just picked up a 07 Camry Hybrid. It has Gen5 Nav. What I see so far is finer detail, some difference in screens, better bluetooth phone entry system.

What else have I overlooked?

Keyboard nicer on screen. Can input places while driving by verbally entering phone #'s plus many more voice commands.

I test drove the 400h and the RX350 as well this summer to shop for a car for the wife.

and the 5th generation NAV is definately a huge improvement. The nav in the 400h is way too pixelated. With the higher resolution on the 5th gen, it makes it much easier and user-friendly.

I'm also interested in swapping in the 07 Nav. Perhaps Lexus would swap out the entire center console for the newer one? This might also add "adaptive cruise control" and "tire-pressure sensing" capabilities to the vehicle.

I'm sure it would be a costly upgrade but I definitely would consider it.

Default You cannot upgrade Gen. 4 to Gen. 5.....

as the hardware is completely different. The 2007 features will be a big improvement in terms of screen visibility, graphics, Bluetooth features and use by voice command. I prefer the tire pressure inference method of the 2006 as it doesn't give false warnings when the temperature drops suddenly etc. but the '07 will get the individual type. The SC430, GX470, LX470 and RX models do not have ventilated seats or push button start/stop in 2007.

Back from the dead.

So, can a swap be done? I have had two newer Gen5 vehicles and now my wife with the 06 400h feels like I'm playing Atari. Nothing bad with it but newer is soo much better.

Probably cheaper to install an aftermarket navi.

YES YOU CAN upgrade to Gen 5 Nav if you are willing to pay. The cost,
is about $2500 - $1000 trade-in the final cost you are looking at $1500
custom harness will have to be make for you to work with the Gen5 screen
