Default Thinking about a leftover '06 400h now ...

Please give me your opinion ...

I have been considering a 2007 RX 400h for some time now. I haven't received as good of a deal as I'd hoped. Dealers had been saying to look into an '06, but I did not want the older Gen navigation system.

It has NOW been brought to my attention that there are some leftover 06s out there w/o navigation. Navigation is not a must to me, so this is intriguing.

What else would I be missing out on in the '06 vs the '07? I'm thinking not a whole lot except it would be one model year older (better deal to be had as well).

Can anyone else give me some pros & cons?

Basically I think I could get an '06 w/o Navigation for $42,000

VERSUS

Getting the '07 for $47,300 w/Navigation ... $44,700 ordered w/o Navigation.

I would have to wait 3-4 months for the '07 though (ordering w/o wood trim) ... not a big deal, but I would kind of appreciate having the hybrid badge on the side of the '07. I don't REALLY care if I have the Navigation or not though.

The value of my '06 would be lower than the '07 right after driving off the lot as well since it's a year older.

What would YOU do?

Thanks for the time guys!

Thumbs up 06 400h

We went with an 06 pre-owned 400H to avoid the high cost of the 07 hybrid model. We test drove an 07 RX350 and then the 400H. We were most impressed with the smooth quiet power and ride of the hybrid but couldn't justify the sticker price compared to the RX350. We found one with 11,000 miles that had everything we wanted, Nav,DVD and the Mark Levinson system and of course NO wood. We offered 40K and they accepted! We were returning customers and traded our 01 RX SilverSport for it so maybe they were more willing to move the 06. You might try the Cert Pre-Owened route since the warranty coverage is as good as a new one.

Guess I have to update my sig

I think you're better off with the 06 RXh for $42k. If I'm not mistaken, the 06 & 07 still qualify for the tax credits at 50% (about $1k). Got my 06 for $44k - $2k tax credit before 9/30/06. You'll net about $41k for an 06, but still brand new car vs a $40k CPO, no tax credit, w/ 11k miles.

having driven an 06 and owning an 07, the only diff is the nav and the blue badging. look around though, cuz here in socal i was offered a comparably equipped 06 for $42k, but got the 07 for only a grand more.

I'm leaning towards not getting the 400h now ... I test drove an Acura MDX and it just has the looks and features I'm looking for. The only way I would go with the 400h would be if I ended up snagging a leftover 2006.

Might want to do a search on these boards then. I haven't driven the MDX, but do know that there are people on this board that went with the MDX and now drive a Lexus. Why, I'm not sure, but we all know why...its a LEXUS

The Acura MDX is a re-design for this year ... I never liked the old model, but this new one is REALLY nice. I really like the aggressive look over the ho-hum of the Lexus. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed my RX 330 but may have to give Acura a shot.
