Default Lexus Announces Pricing for All-New LS 600h L Luxury Hybrid Sedan

TORRANCE, Calif., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Lexus today announced the
manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) for the all-new 2008 LS 600h L
luxury hybrid sedan. The LS 600h L will be the ultimate Lexus statement,
providing the highest level of luxury, technology, performance, safety and
efficiency.

With an extensive list of standard luxury equipment and technological
features, including the world's first full hybrid V8 powertrain, the LS
600h L will carry a base MSRP of $104,000 when it reaches Lexus dealers in
June.

The full-time all-wheel-drive LS 600h L will be the world's first
vehicle powered by a full hybrid V8 powertrain and will be mated to a newly
developed dual-stage electronically controlled, continuously variable
transmission. It will deliver power and performance on par with modern
12-cylinder engines, producing more than 430 horsepower while still
delivering fuel efficiency equal to or better than the combined
fuel-economy ratings of V6 all-wheel-drive mid-sized luxury sedans. The LS
600h L will also carry a Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) rating,
emitting nearly 70 percent fewer emissions than the "cleanest" of its
competitors.

So it's less than the $110K base price as rumoured, sounds very reasonable to me.

Now waiting for Canadian pricing . . .

I wonder what a "Stripped" LS600hL will include.

Well for starters it probably will have most everything the LS 460 L has...

extra for the Exec Package...

I wish they could've added a panoramic roof.

Sigh. Until they move the RSES to the headrests they won't be able to. I still don't understand why Lexus finds roof-mounted RSES a better idea. Is it for cost reasons (1 screen vs. 2)? It's just not as ergonomic having to look up and turn sideways to watch the screen. And then it blocks the rear view of the driver, AND most importantly it wastes the opportunity to offer a panoramic sunroof a la the lowly ES.

I'm thinking that the active front headrests safety feature precludes the installation of RSES in the headrests?

Maybe they can do a workaround...

Good point, but LCD screens these days should be thin enough to be accommodated in the headrest along with the headrest "pusher" device, no?

I think they should be able to do something, but they probably were focused on designing the headrests first, while leaving the LCD to the roof. I happen to think the roof LCD is elegant in that you can 'stow' it away.

It wouldn't be too big a problem IMO though to redo it for other packaging. For instance Lexus relocates the cool box with the Exec package, they could relocate the RSES to accomodate a panoramic roof.

However the question is probably how big a market that would be. Lexus also watches reliability; they waited for the first gen versions to test out on the Scions before giving the ES the glass roof.

Or just put LCD screen on back of seats . . . I still think they don't want to make the price too expensive with 2 screens, probably same reason for pano roof . . .

To me, a flagship model should have everything lower models have. Plus, an extra LCD screen doesn't really cost that much. And we're talking about 2 smaller (cheaper) screens versus one big motorized screen.

Well, the lowly Mercedes C-coupe actually got pano roof the earliest, then the E class got pano roof in 2003 MY redesign, & the S class didn't get it til 2007 MY redesign, I say wait for the next LS redesign for the pano roof - see you in 6 years
