Default LS600hL Canadian Specs, Build & Price

I see the LS600hL is now featured on the Lexus Canada website.

Look here: http://www.lexus.ca/lexus/experience...46FC&year=2008

jeez.. same mileage (more or less) as our 4 cylinder Camry lol. Worse highway mileage though (9.1L/100km vs 6.7L/100km on our Camry despite being more aerodynamic than the Camry - 0.27 vs. 0.284).

Front AND rear acoustic glass.. very nice!

hmm... you only get the leather dash and "Escaine" headliner with the Executive package. You also lose 1" in wheel size for some reason? You go from 19" to 18"

The reason they are giving is to ensure that the "executive" gets a plusher ride with the smaller rim . . .

The packaging sucks by the way, only 2 choices, you either get everything or almost nothing

Those 18" are the worst looking OEM rims for the LS though. The 19" 5-spokes & 7-spokes look better on the car, & those split 5-spokes on the Launch Edition also.

Yes, well, the rumor around here a few weeks ago was that (despite earlier reports from Lexus) those are the only choices we'll get in the U.S., too.

Darn. If that's true, I may pass on my "1st on the list" LS600hL .

I'm already being forced to get more than I want (LWB, Rear(cool box, entertainment system/DVD, audio control, power and cooled seats), and I have NO interest in MORE back seat amenities that the "Executive-Class" package adds.

On the other hand, since I REQUIRE active cruise control, I won't go with the "Stripped" LS600hL.

It is kind of amazing though that a $104,000 car can be described as stripped......

I just checked, you still can't "build" a LS600hL on the USA Lexus site.
If they allow you to build a configuration of "somewhere in between" as reported here earlier, not all or nothing like in Canada, then you should still be able to special order one with some desirable options but not the exec. package . . . they should put that configurator on the US website already.

I think it's ridiculous that you can only get a base 600hL without even the full leather dash, or you have to go with a C$27,000 optional package with the ottoman & RSES & a bunch of other stuff

especially when jeff posted before that for example the rear entertainment and the ottoman are "separate" packages now

Well, what is killing me is the ridiculous difference between Canadian price and US. It is minimally over US$22,000 dollars, and in some configurations reaching US45,000 dollars. I think Lexus just does not want us to buy the vehicle. I think I will head to the US, probably time to replace my trusty LX470.

USA is probably the cheapest place to buy any brand of cars in the world now. It's the weak US dollar relative to the Canadian dollar that's causing this big price discrepancy, as I have explained before with my own example : CLICK HERE

The currency exchange rate was 0.887 when I made the post above. It's even worse today at over 0.94, making the price discrepancy even more. Some predict the exchange rate will even go to 1.00 even by the end of the year

Robarapta, I agree with your assessment. Still, the emotional part of me can not comprehend it Just price out the executive package 460L for both US and Canada (the one I'm looking at at the moment), you will get like over $65k plus difference. What the hell? Is my math entirely wrong? But this is what the www.lexus.com vs www.lexus.ca sites give: CAD95,000 (in US) vs CAD182,000 (in Canada) for identically configured 460L ex. package vehicle. Please correct me if I'm nuts.

While your U.S. price of the LS460L Exec.Package is about right at ~ $95K, I don't know how you come up with your $182,000 for the LS460L in Canada ??
Even the LS600hL Exec. Package is not that much in Canada - it's "only" $158,000.

The LS460L Exec. Package is priced at $122,000 in Canada, which is still $20K+ more than the same model in the US. But of course we have to pay 17% taxes on the car, whereas in the US, they only pay less than 10% in taxes, but that has nothing to do with the pricing of the cars by the manufacturer.
