Starting in Maine, I went to Connecticut, where I tried my luck at the gaming tables.

Having lost neither my shirt nor car, I continued on to Endicott, NY where I saw a play, "Dial M for murder". This is the leg where I had to backtrack 100 miles in the rain and mountains. Fortunately, when I got to Endicott and sat in my seat, the curtain was just going up!

Next, on my way to "North East, PA", I traveled part of the Glendorn drive, one of the Lexus recommended drives.

The next leg brought me to Sandusky OH, and then on to Chicago, IL.

The furthest west I got was Madison, WI, where my plans abruptly changed, and I headed directly back to Maine.

Most of the time I was listening to a book on CD ("World Without End" by Ken Follett), which I'm still only about 1/2 through (it's a LONG book).

The drive was serene most of the time, a bit intense during the mountainous rain storm, but at all times very pleasant and enjoyable. Next time I'll try to have a traveling companion with me....

The "mountains" along Rt 17 in Western NY really don't count as mountains, they are moderate hills. Come on out to Colorado, these are mountains...

I plan on taking my sherpa Pumba and driving up Everest after the monsoon season. Can't wait to try out the air filter at altitude.

I can't seem to get 20mpg on mine, yet I feel like I'm babying it.

Well naturally a lot of city driving would help the mpg...and are you really planning to take the 600hL up to high altitude?

Actually, most driving is city around here, unfortunately.

I can see the documentary now. "The man who drove down Everest." In IMAX. In theaters soon.

I wonder how high an altitude the ECU can deal with.

The highest I have had any of my Lexii is about 14,100 ft at the summit of Pikes Peak highway. Power is only slightly diminished above about 12,000, but I would love to see how your CVT would handle engine braking on the downhill return ride? Anyone have that experience yet?

Riding the brakes down, you'd probably charge the batteries until they exploded.

I've found quite the opposite. I've never seen anybody looking at or noticing my LS600hL.

Actually, I prefer it that way ....

Truer words were never spoken.

No one seems to particularly notice the LS600hL. To almost everyone, it's just a Lexus. True afficianados would notice, but those are the ones you don't mind.

Finally got 20mpg (20.2 to be precise) for a tankful of gas. Had to drive looking at the mpg displays to achieve that. Certainly not automatic. I wonder next time I have a mostly highway tank what I'll average. Now this is certainly better than the ~15mpg I get with my LS430 (33% better), but not jaw-dropping.

But, I'll say it again (ATTENTION: Politically incorrect rant to follow), I didn't get the car for the mileage.
