Sorry, this is not correct. Only cars that get 45MPG or better highway mileage (according to last year's EPA numbers) can get "clean air" stickers that enable them to use the car pool lanes even with only a driver. This is independent of technology used to achieve the MPG. Most of the eligible cars use CNG.
No Lexus is eligible for a clean air sticker in California.
Here is a list of the cars that are: http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/carpool/carpool.htm

The blue signifies Hybrid Toyota and Lexus vehicles. It first started this year with the LS600hL and later evolved to the other hybrid models. Also note, new for 2008, the headlamps, foglamps and even taillights of some models are tinted light blue, to distinguish them from their gasoline counterparts.

cool do the hybrids have LED brake lights? I wish my rx330 had chrom door handles. I found some on ebay, but im afraid they will turn yellow after a few months (fake chrome) and you cant take them off since they are 3m taped on. ruining the original handles

The chrome handles started with the RX350 (2007).
05/06 RXh - RX400h emblem
07 RXh - HYBRID emblems added to rear doors
08 RXh - the blue L emblems and blue tinted headlights are added.

hey tomv could you upload a pic of ur LED brake lights in action. I never seen one? are back up lights led too? What about when the headlights are on. Do the LED stay on in the red stop lights just at a lower intensity? really nice car btw
#22
LEDs shouldn't work any differently than incandescent bulbs.
#23
Indicators and reverse lights are regular incandescent bulbs.

I have 2004 RX330 does that mean I have LED lights for my lights in the bake? I know I have them in the footwells and door handle
#27
Yeah you should be LEDs in the rear (tail/brake lights). I thought only the hybrid had it but someone corrected me and said all 2G RXs had it

So how are the car makers making dual-intesity LEDs function? They are pulsing current through them at less than 100% duty-cycle that the effect is to have a dimmed brightness. For full intesity, they don't pulse the power to the lamps.
Follow a car with LED taillamps one night, and then quickly avert your gaze (and blink a couple times) and you'll see in your persistance-of-vision multiple images of the taillamps. You're seeing the flicker! Then when they apply the brakes and the LEDs go full intensity, the effect goes away because they are not pulsing.
Anyway I'm new here, I just bought a CPO 2006 RX400h last Saturday and so far I'm loving it. It black with tan interior. Nav, DVD, Levinson sound, trailer etc. Its our first Lexus. I'm a gadget freak and it has lots of stuff to play with. I'm already planning on making a hybrid 5.1/7.1 Nav upgrade disc when I get the time, since I already discovered the phone/nav override and don't want to lose it when I buy the 7.1 nav disc.
