Default I want to sell my 2008 GS450h ???

Hi guys,
I've had my 2008 GS450h Hybrid for a month now... and sadly, I dont like it all that much. Theres something about it that just doesnt do it for me. i like the interior and all the great technological features. i just dont the the exterior styling... my previous car was an 04 Lexus SC430 (lowers on 20" rims)

Any suggestions on how to sell this car without losing tons of money? Do you think it's possible to lose less than 4 or 5 thousand...

Sticker was 61K the car only has 1200 miles. It has silver exterior with black leather. Navigation, Mark levinson, lexus link...

it's not going to be easy, a car off the lot is already couple grands off easy. i say try autotraders and such, but with the slow market, it doesn't help

It could be easier if you decide to move into another Lexus and work something out with your dealership (no duplicate fees, no registration, pay difference in taxes?). Selling it by yourself or trading it in will result in a big hit.

that won't happen in cali about the taxes. there is no such thing as to pay difference in taxes when you are trade in used cars for another.

the document fees, maybe, up to dealership, but that's only couple hundreds

Yeah, I forgot because I didn't trade-in my ES350 but rather had a Corporate Lexus buyback. When I moved to GS350, I only had to pay tax on price difference, no fees or registration. Still, I just think dealership should appreciate anyone's effort wanting to stay within same car family and give some kind of a price brake in this situation. Maybe you will loose on your trade-in car, but get a better discount on a new one? It happened with someone at ES350 forum who "exchanged" his car because he didn't like the color.

Unless money is no object to you, you're going to get slammed. I traded in a '06 IS350 and took a 25% hit on depreciation, and this was a fully loaded, rare IS with less than 17k miles and less than 18 mos. IMHO, the depreciation curve doesn't level off until year 3 of ownership, so after 1 month & 1,200 miles you will get slammed. My advice is to learn to live with it for at least a year and see how the used car market is then. CA is such a competitive market place that you'll never get close to what KBB or Edmunds says your car is worth . . .

I have always felt the hybrid version was way overpriced for what you get vs. a 350, so I'm betting that getting out without taking a really big hit is going to be hard.

I would try to sell it back to your dealer and then negotiate buying something from the same dealer at very close to invoice in return. This is possible.

^ Don't forget in CA you'll pay full sales tax & registration for the new car with no discount or proration for TTL on the used car . . .

I assume you liked the exterior when you purchased the car, or did you hope you'd eventually warm up to the styling?

I'd think your best bet is to do a private party sale. Hopefully with the current high gas costs, the market for hybrids is still active. Good luck.

In 2007, Lexus sold 2,067 460/450h. For a limited production car like the 450h, it seems like you'd be better off keeping your car a while vs. taking the big financial hit right off the bat.

You are going to loose close to $10K easy. First, you are going loose ~$5K for tax and license you paid and then minimum 5 grand for depreciation.

However, if you are lucky and find a Canadian buyer looking for a GS450H specifically, I am sure he will be happy to pay you what you paid as sticker for GS450H in Canada is about $71K USD at current 1:1 rate...

I would give it a little more time, I didnt like my GS350 all that much at first, but its growing on me. It's hard to get used to new cars for me after Im set in my ways for a couple years good.

If its just the styling and not the performance and comfort issue, I would not worry too much as most newer designs take a little while getting used to.

I didnt likethe 2003 BMW 745 at all in 2002, but now I think the design is pretty nice. (well nicer than then)

GS is a nice car, it just needs a sportier touch.
