Default Power Gauge not going into blue area when coasting.

Hello all! Just purchased a 2006 400h and I have noticed that the power gauge is not going into the blue area when the vehicle is coasting. The gauge only goes into the blue when I apply the brakes. Is this normal or should I have the dealer repair this? A few responses from current owners with how your vehicles behave would be highly appreciated.

Coasting generates very little amperage back into the battery. Brake sends more amps back to the battery hence you're in the (blue) zone.

I have a 2008 RX400h. I have found it does not go into the blue while coasting (even though the screen show regeneration), it goes a little into the blue when shifter is in 'B' mode, and a lot more when just braking. I also notice that sometimes when I'm braking it will be regenerating and then stop while Iam still braking and I think this is because the battery has a full charge? I actually have to push the brake pedal harder to compensate.

This is the way my 2006 behaves also although I have had all green when it was about 40 F outside on several occasions.

If you've continued to depress the brake pedal, you'll push it past the a certain break point where it'll switch to friction braking. Now note that that thresold changes with speed. You can depress the brake pedal a lot more in slower speeds and still get regen compared to higher speeds (say 40mph) where the threshold is much sooner.

It shows you when the battery is being charged, most notably when you apply the brakes.
