It was an unusually cold night here last night (55 degrees F) for this time of the year, and this morning, for the first time, my engine turned on when I started the car, even though I had 3/4 battery charge. Then, when I would come to a stop, the engine kept running for, oh, about 10 seconds before turning off. Since we live in mostly a warm climate, is the engine running to get warm or is this something that I should be concerned about and continue to watch?

dont worry. its normal, i think. mine does that everytime i starts up my car too. i dont think it has anything to do with the battery level, but rather just the engine is warming up.
if u feel a need for a necessary help, then give your dealer a call.

Was the heater on or off?
If it was off, chances are the engine will turn off immediately. I know for a fact that my 400h does this in the dead of winter, and I keep the heater off in prolonged cold start morning commute, where there are alot of stop lights.
Cheers,
