Default Torquing Lug Nuts

What amount of torque do you need to torque the lug nuts properly?

12 x 1.5 mm(which is our thread pitch) is 70-80 ft/lbs of torque

How come the stock lug nuts are bigger than 12x1.5?

Default I saw that too, but...

I noticed the torque settings, and personally, I find them too low. Yes, I know the what the manual states, but I torque mine at 90-95lb/ft. My car has 18" wheels with 255mm, and find that with comparison with other Toyota products I have owned in the past, to be more appropriate. As well, I have never warped a rotor. The important element is really to install the wheels correctly.

The wheel in question must be fully installed and torqued while the vehicle weight is completely off the tire/rim. As well, you should start in a diagonal pattern installing the lugs as well as preliminary tightening them. Once the lug nuts are fairly secure (being carefull not to over torque them), you can then take out the torque wrench and tighten them down to the preset setting.

Cheers,
