Default 20x10 won't fit gs450h with tanabe nf210

I just got back from the wheel shop with tears in my eyes... 20" are no go for 450h. I had to settle with 19x9.5, because 19x10 will also rub with 2 adults on back sit. We have pressed the wheel (19x9.5 with 275x30x19) pretty much all the way up, and it did touch the fender right near the bumper cover....
I was so close to throw out all the batteries from the trunk just to make 20's fit, but I realized wifey is not with me, so there is no one to push the car...

Hum... odd. I didn't hear of any other GS450h owners saying that 20x10s didnt fit. Maybe the offsets on the 20x10 were too aggressive, but other then that I don't think in general all 20x10s don't fit.

Maybe your wheel place didn't know what they were doing. Any pics of the car now? What wheels did you buy?

i am not sure if i agree. it depends on the offset. with the correct offset i would say 10 should be no problem in the back?

if offsets too aggressive, nothing can fit

You need to go with a custom wheel manufacturer. What size tire did you use?

, isnt lexus gs3 on 10s or 10.5s in the rear? (and his works are 20s too)

think you need custom offsets + your wheel shop may have just been trying make a sale.

I don't know what offset of 20's was, but 19's are 40 with 275x30 toyo T1R tires. I would say guy was just trying to make a sale. He had no other 20's in stock that could fit my car... I will try to take some pics tonight after car is washed...
Is there anybody with 450h on 20's with tanabe nf210? Pics and specs would be appreciated...
THanks

One more thing... 450h sits lower on nf210 than other GS's

Why do you think the 450h sits lower than the standard RWD? Based on the Lexus spec's, all RWD's (including 450h) have a stock height of 56.1", whereas the AWD has a height of 56.5". The main suspension components should be exactly the same. I do not believe the 450h will sit lower than a standard RWD with NF210's installed.

450h is a lot heavier because of batteries in the back. I think it is about 200lbs than gs460. I'm not sure, but I think stock springs are different to compensate for the weight. Tanabe NF210 were certified for lighter GS's, and they don't list 450h in their application guide...

I just verified the difference between 350RWD and 450h... it is about 340lbs difference. I don't think spring specs are identical on those cars...

After analyzing all GS models curb weight and weight distribution (http://autos.yahoo.com/lexus/), the 450h is roughly 170lbs heavier in the rear. Before assuming that your car will ride lower, I would recommend going to a Lexus parts department and referencing the part numbers of the suspension coil springs for each GS model. If the coil spring part numbers are different than the spring rates are probably different. However, if they're the same than Lexus probably tuned the stock coil spring rates to work for all GS vehicles (3800-4100lbs with weight distribution ranges).

Using compatible parts saves Toyota money during production which would be a minor contrinutor of "Design For Manufacturability" for the GS line.

lexus gs3 has 10.5 in the back. i have 10 in the back. flipside909 has 11 in the back. granted all 3 of us have fender mods to clear coz' of the more aggressive offsets. but with the right offset i know 10 will fit in the back no problem.

then of course, we have gs350. i am not 100%, but i don't think 450h wheel well design is any different from the rest of the gs. i am pretty confident with the right offset 10 in the rear is no problem. all 3 of us have our cars lower than people with springs

and you are saying 9.5 +40 with 275/30 rubs in the back where the bumper meets the fender? i am actually a bit surprised

The guy did the test by pressing the wheel all the way up, and then we checked how much clearance it has. In most cases you will probably never hit the bump like that, but if you have 2 adults on the back sit... you never know.. Below are some pics taken with my phone just few mins ago...
I really started hating this wheels...
