How accurate is the Current MPG?
Isn't only the electric motor runs from 0 to 40mph unless some circumstances and shouldn't the MPG be around 26?
How come the current mpg always show around 20 or less?
I mean I do get 25+ on average MPG, so I don't get how to read the current MPG...
Can someone pls explain to me...
thanks in advance,
soda

The electric motor engages and disengages more based on demand than speed. If you jackrabbit off at lights, you'll find the gas engine engages almost immediately and mileage suffers. If you use a light pressure on the accelerator and keep an eye on the KW meter (keep it in the white zone), you can drive on electric only for up to about a mile.
Once the battery charge level falls off, the gasoline engine will come on pretty much regardless of the vehicles speed until the battery recharges.

Yea, I keep it light but still don't seem like go more than 20 (unless I''m coasting)...
I heard some said the MPG gets better after 5000 mileage? Why's that?

I noticed too that the mileage increased but it did it at almost exactly 4,000 miles. I'll bet that they use what used to be called an E-cell (GM term). This was a fusible link device that took a certain number of hours to burn open and when it did, it allowed the computer to perform an alternative fuel and ignition timing curves which improved performance and fuel economy. This allowed the engine to break in before this occurred. It was like a switch and I'll bet it was an e-cell-type device that occrurred.

I was wondering does it really improve the mileage or
the mileage stays the same but just the # is getting more accurate since the system should get used to by driving this much...

I have 1,084 miles on my '08 and filled up today. It showed 366 miles on this tank and 26.6 mpg. I put in 14.1 gallons. Divided out that is 25.95 mpg. This tank was 80-90% highway (not our normal driving, we went on a trip). But the .6 or so difference between the screen and my calculations is what caught my attention.

I feel like you have to do a bit of finessing. On our recent trip I had the pleasure of being the driver during two traffic jams. I had no trouble keeping it in all electric. And our MPG went up, up, up.
I did reset our fuel economy readout and calculated the MPG manually the next fillup. My math matched the computers to the nearest 1/10. Pretty good.

O I see someone mentioned about the white bars from the KW meter.
I kept it under there and indeed in electric motor mode.
However, the car will be so slow and also the white bar is so short I can easily past it.
Do you suggest me to past the white zone then start letting it go when up to the speed?
thanks in advance,
