Using these numbers the "h" has a 28% MPG advantage.

Where the RX450h beats the pants off the RX350 for fuel efficiency is in city or rural driving where it benefits from regenerative braking.
Best mpg I could muster on my 2013 AWD RX350 was 16 mpg city and 19 highway at 65 mph. That 16 was in warm weather. Cold weather was even lower. Hit 12.5 at one point. Traded it in with less than 10 k on the clock and bought the 2015 RX450h. Best move I ever made. Great mpg city and highway. But-- cold weather mpg in city drops for the first 10 miles or so. Then slowly climes back up as car warms up. So if your driving short distance your mpg will be lower.

Your RX350 mileage numbers are more what I hear from owners here in Naperville and there are a lot of RX350s here. The RX350 and RX450h are about the same weight as my F150 4x4 and 12.5 is exactly what I get on it in the winter and 15 in town during warmer weather in town and 19 on the highway. Putting my 29.7 mpg aside on my RX450h, there are other advantages. When I took my car in for its 15,000 mile checkup, they measured my break wear at 5% back and 10% front. The service manager I was dealing with said that this was common for the RX450h whereas the RX350 would be three times that wear and need a brake job at around 50,000 miles verses 150,000 for the hybrid. This is because the hybrid has regenerative breaking so the break pads do very little of the breaking if driven properly. The other advantage of the hybrid AWD is that the rear while drive is electric instead of mechanical. The electric AWD is much quicker to respond since there is less momentum to overcome. Best wet, snow and ice response available. Tesla boasts about their AWD response times and the RX450h is just as fast at responding to bad road conditions.

Right on.
I have had 2 Prius's, a Camry Hybrid,a Kia hybrid and now the RX hybrid. The RX being new. The other cars never once had any brake care or replacement needed. In fact very little brake dust to clean off the wheels. No discoloration. Being in Buffalo the temp.'s now have dropped into early morning temp's of 30-40 degrees. MPG has dropped down because of only very short drives. Under 5 miles per. And no highway right now. 25-26 now the norm but that picks up as soon as engine warms and the drives are longer. Then MPG goes right back into the 29-30 range or better. I have no complaints. One other benefit. Fewer oil changes and less wear on engine.

Unhappy MPGs Are My Principal Concern

We've had our 2015 RX450h since last October. Consistently, the average MPGs are around 24. They've checked out the batteries, tires, and injection fuel system--While it might be that I sometimes tend to drive fast, the MPGs are no where close to being what the sticker indicated--regardless of the season or weather or short/long distances. I do wonder if Lexus has mislead owner/drivers!

My wife had a 2010 RX350 which we got right at the EPA figures of 18 city and 24 highway. Two months ago, we bought a 2015 used RX450h. The whole time we have had it we have got 29.5 mpgs. This has been a normal mix of city/highway driving. On highway trips we will get 32 mpg's. This is driving in normal mode. We love the RX.

Same, if I drive fast and furious I'll get 24-25mpg. If I follow the i95 speed lmit of 55, I can get 33/34. I'm doing around 60-65 most of the time so i'm around 29-29.5mpg

For me its a great car. Dont expect winter to be great.. battery doesnt work as well, plus it uses a lot of gas to keep the engine warm.

I"m looking to trade in next year, it will be for another 450h

The city and highway driving combo is the secret to keeping the mpg up in the 30 range. Also--warmer weather helps as well. Being in Buffalo it gets cold. But--- once the engine warms after around 6-7 miles the mpg goes up. Highway driving is the secret to great numbers even though somewhat misleading. As soon as you go back to just stop and go city driving the numbers start to slowly drop back down. Are you still getting 30 mpg! Not really. Even though it shows 30plus. Don't get me wrong. Car is fantastic in every respect. Even at 25 mpg for some--- it's excellent for a heavy full size SUV. Drive and enjoy. Plus gasoline is down to $2:35 a gallon. Now you really can save a few bucks.

Just report a recent trial trip for my 2010 FWD 450H, drove about 600 miles, 75% are crowd flat freeway with speed 60 mph, the rest is city driving. I received about 34 mpg, a bit surprised.

That's great mpg. For the 2010 model year. Glad to hear it. The 450h is a all around excellent car.

Yes. I read somewhere that from an unscientific poll the gas mileage of 2010 is better than all sequent years. It's not a statistics, nonetheless it says something about the first 3Rx model year. Is this just by coincidence ?

So I purchased a used RX 450h AWD in August '15. i wanted to give it a while before I post mpg stats. I have to say that I've been very disappointed so far. I am usually getting around 23 mpg
Reading other people getting 28-30 mpg is surprising. The best I ever got was 27 mpg driving almost 90% on freeway.

My tire pressure is about 36 psi, which I think is pretty decent. The only thing I can blame is my commute is short (< 5 miles) and maybe it doesn't allow hybrid system to warm up and fully kick in.

I bought the Mrs. a CPO'd 2015 AWD last month. She is sort of fixated on the MPG's. First four fill ups have yielded between 26 and 28 on average. Her commute is approx. 50 miles roundtrip on mostly highway, but with a fair mix of stop and go. I think that is pretty good for a vehicle this size. By the way, my GSh rolls around 30 mpg. And she flies!

Default 2014 Lexus RX 450h getting 18-20 MPG

Hello:

I bought a 2014 Lexus RX 450h that has 20,000 miles on it. It gives only between 18-20 MPG depending on how many people sit in it.
-I took to the dealer (route 10 Lexus in New jersey) and he advised that there is moisture intrusion in hybrid battery and they fixed/sealed it and changed the ECU.
-It still gives only 18-20 MPG with premium fuel. I took back again and they said everything is as expected and advised that i should expect any where between 20-24 MPG, not the published MPG.
-Wondering what to do with it as i bought this based on average MPG.
-The battery never charges 100% even on long drives. Is that OK?
-I do reset the dashboard MPG and giving you MPG after refill on the dashboard.
Any suggestions, please advise. Regards, Venkat

So what year for your RX 450H. Actually mine is 2010 and was bought in 2015.
I guess your short commute plays a role. If you take longer trip, you may read different result.
