2009 side bumper strips on 2010 450h?
I have a 2010 RX450h. As we all know, the 2010 models do not have side body bumper strips, although the 2009 RX 350 had them. (There was no 2009 RX 450h produced.) Obsidian black was available in 2009 for the RX 350 and it is the exterior colour on my 2010.
Does anyone have a reason why I could not get my Lexus dealer to order the bumper strips for the 2009 RX 350 and mount them on my 2010 RX 450h?
Many thanks.

There are no Lexus part side moldings made for the '10 RX350.
A aftermarket company makes them and my Lexus dealer ordered and had them installed on my RX by an outside shop.
There are two choices.A painted or a painted with a chrome center insert.I went with the painted.
I think the side look was bland and the moldings look good to me and will provide some protection.
You can buy the moldings online. Dawn Enterprises is said to make the best ones.I believe Park Place Lexus in Dallas sells the same set for $249 but you can get them $75-$100 cheaper from another vendor.
Here's Dawn's site showing the painted and chrome insert molding and install instructions. If interested, you can contact them and see who sells their moldings.

Here's some pics. The paint match is right on the mark.I actually feel the moldings look much better in person.

The detailer at my dealer handles the side door moldings and quoted that price for me. As to where he gets them, I don't know. He did such a great job on the ones in the showroom I would have thought they were original to the car if I didn't know better. I passed on getting them myself because those suckers hold dirt and I like the lines of the door without them. It's easier to clean and wax too.

It looks like the same ones on ebay for half the price.

Thanks. I go to Lexus of Bridgewater. This is my third car from them in about 12 years. Prices are decent by Lexus standards I guess. I haven't gone anywhere else to compare and don't plan to. My salesperson and service advisor always take great care of me. I think that's more important.

IMO, I don't see Lexus has the genuine bumper strips or parts. At least Lexus website has no such items listed. These so-called Lexus parts could be ordered separately by the local dealers.
In 2009 April, I saw my dealer use 2G model side strips (or their own 3rd party parts) on 2010 model. Now, I guess they may use the similar parts or the "upgrade" version on 2010.
Dunno. Maybe there are the genuine parts from "Lexus", but I just don't find them...

It's an aftermarket part that Lexus dealers have been using from this company called Dawn Enterprises.
The installer(an outside shop) told me he's been using products from Dawn for many years without any problems.
