My Michelins were so bad in the snow, I bought Perrelli Ice&Snow tires for the winter. You might want to look at Toyo ATs for all year use. I have them on my Jeep and it goes anywhere, anytime.

Of the two tires you mentioned I think my Alenzas are significantly better in the snow than my Michelins or Goodyears. I feel they are better in all aspects, superior handling in wet, dry or snow, better cornering grip, better ride comfort and quieter too.

I would add another tire to the list of consideration, that being the Yokohama Parada SpecX.

Hello,
I'm not sure which brand of tires you have, but you may want to consider a warranty claim if they are worn out before the tread warranty.
This is a daunting task, I just finished making a claim with Goodyear, and have 4 new Fortera Silent Armour tires.
If this is a case of tread warranty be patient and have the following documents ready:
Tire purchase invoice with the mileage
Tire rotation invoices
Wheel alignment invoices
Like I said be patient as this process took 9 weeks, and they are trying not to honour their warranty by stalling.
Good Luck

I got a set of the Bridgestone Alenza a few weeks ago. less than 1,000 miles on it so far, but they are fantastic. Better handling, braking and MUCH less noise than the old Coopers.

They have excellent reviews on tirerack.com from people with a lot more miles on them. $830 from Discount tire, installed with their prorated warranty and free rotations.

I've had only Michelins on my 2004 RX330 since new. It's hard to believe that you can find a quieter tire. Here in Virginia, we dont get much snow (notwithstanding the 3 feet of snow in one storm this past winter), so I really can't comment on their snow capability. The biggest drawback to those is the price - close to $1k for 4. I plan on trying the Yokohomas next, as they are about 50 bucks less per tire.

The Alenzas are made for the snow. I had some fun with them, passing stuck cars and trekking up snow covered hilly roads because the main roads were closed or clogged with traffic. They never disappointed. I replaced them with the Michelin Energy MXV4 but didn't have them long enough to see how they were in the snow.

Hey Everybody

just an update i went ahead and bought the Bridgestone Dueler Alenza's and i feel like i'm the king of the road with these tires. i can't wait to see how they respond in the winter. The Michelin energy's were garbage, and some how it feels better when i drive 80mph, i feel like i have better control of the vehicle. I paid 884.00 at costco they have sale on bridge stone tires this month

I thought Bridgestones are made in Japan? The Alenza's in the RX are made in Mexico...

Enjoy. They have worked well for me in NJ. They handle well but are a little noisy in the rain and I swear you lose a little mpg. But to me feeling safe in the snow, sleet ice and rain is more important.

Default NJ = Snow, no????

I see you live in an area that snows...

Getting one tire for the 4 seasons is a compromise, no matter what anybody says.

If you are prepared for compromise, then either tire you mentioned are very good tires.

I am about 6 hrs north of you, so, I went with a true winter tire (for maximum ice, snow, slush/rain capability) and a true summer tire (for maximum mileage, comfort, and ride).

Yes, it will cost you an extra set of tires and rims. You need to ask yourself, was it fun driving in the elements with your present tires? Do you value safety and performance? Your tires are the only thing between you and the ground.

Cheers,

MadloR
