Default Hybrid Slight lurch

Just noticed something new-and I will be bringing into dealer:

As I slow down, for a light or traffic-it seems when I though the brake I get a very slight lurch (almost hard to perceive it) in the vehicle. its usually under 20 MPH.

I am paying more attention to it--to describe it better. But it was not present until recently.

Anybody else experience this?

maybe i'm reading your post wrong, but is it similar to what sleepsurf described in his post #2 in the link below?

if what you are experiencing is same as what he is describing, then yes, i have this too.

What you're talking about is a normal feeling in most Hybrids. If you're using the brakes very lightly the braking action may be entirely the regenerative action. If you need just a little more you might feel the mechanical effect as the hydraulic brakes kick in. Under the same conditions you'd probably feel it in any of our (L) models. It's not a defect, it's just a different feel. You can't expect all of the driving sensations to be exactly as in the 'all' gas model.

You will notice this even more if you are braking on a rough surface. It is what Jim states. It takes some time but you will get use to it.

Although not entirely the same, if you brake a vehicle with ABS on a rough surface you will feel the ABS kick in when the wheels "lock" as they get "light" going over the bump with constant braking pressure.

In this case it is not the ABS rather the back and forth of regenerative braking and hydraulic braking.

This is normal, you should drive the last version of 400h, it is much worst than this model.

I second the comment made by wyau01. The '10s are much better in this respect, but it still happens.

I think I am saying this is more of a "speed up" condition. Difficult to notice unless one is as **** about cars as I am.

it happens for a split second and the feel is similar to what you might feel if while braking you also step on throttle.

My wife does not notice it.

BTW--my wife is getting frustrated that I get 30 MPG and she gets 25 and finally she is adjusting her driving style. She tends to hit the gas hard off a stoplight and then brake at last minute when coming to a stop.

Hal, they way you describe it is exactly what I experience from time to time. It's noticeable just because it's different. It sounds totally normal, don't worry the brakes won't fail you.

Do enjoy the Male dominance of throttle control The reason your wife doesn't notice it is because she doesn't brake

driving a hybrid becomes more like playing a game than anything else. Even in my non hybrid RX, I drive with the Trip Information page on the nav screen to monitor my gas consumption
