Default Increasing tire pressure

Hi all,

I did a search. and unless I just didnt get it right, I did not see anything specific on this(Please link if you see a post though ).

My 450 has the 19" Michelin Lattitude tires on it. According to my pressure monitor, they are set to 31-32psi cold.

Has anyone tried increasing their tire pressure to 35psi cold? I did this on my other vehicle and actually got 2mpg more.

Just curious if anyone has done it and noticed an improvement. Might give it a try. Worst case would be a little rougher ride.

I've done it for years on my RX300. My Michelin 235x70x16 CrossTerrains have a max of 44 psi and I run them at 38 psi. It is a rougher ride, but MPG has been better and of course when I used to run the 1/4 mile it was always faster.

That will work, 35 psi is a good 'cold' figure. But before you go much over that, price the tires and find out where you come out ahead. Higher pressures especially on the highway while giving your better gas mileage they'll give you less tire mileage. And those puppies aren't cheap.

I keep mine at the recommended 33 PSI with the Dunlops. Dealer had it around 36-37 PSI when I picked it up in January. The ride was tight and firm but I brought it down to specs. Now with the warm weather, it goes from 33 to 37-39 PSI after driving a few minutes. That's high enough for me.

The low tire pressure warning goes off at 30 PSI. I found the monitor tends to read slightly lower than the tire gauge by about a pound. And the tire pressure display order is random. So I break out the trusty tire gauge to check them every few weeks.

38 in winter using external gauge--34 in summer --objective is to make sure it never goes above 38.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try out 35 and see how it does.
