Audible clicking sound-external
I almost didn't post this, my car has been so defect free.
I've noticed for a while a clicking sound outside similar to the old floating disk brake pad sound but knew it wasn't that. It could only be heard with the window down and when going slow and coming on or off the throttle.
So when I took it in for the 15K I mentioned it to Walter the (h) Master Tech. He wanted me to drive it so I could recreate the sound and he could listen so we found a brick wall in a quite area behind a Wall-mart that would reflect the sound. He was having a tough time isolating it but wanted to 1st rule out the pads so he removed them and greased the fittings and replaced. Same sound, hmm. He kept it overnight and this morning put a chassis stethoscope device on the tranny. Wasn't there but kept looking. He was guessing it would be a solenoid somewhere that was just making too much noise. Turned out inside the front left hub there was a loose nut causing the clicking when the torque would change. The carter pin kept them safe and on but the noise kept bringing up question marks as to what was the cause. As a precaution he tightened the right front too.
Yesterday I had remarked that if it wasn't hurting anything then fine cause I couldn't hear it with the windows up but they wouldn't have any of that, insisted I take a loaner and let them have a go at the cause. Kuddo's to the Nalley Team.
So if anyone else can detect a similar sound, that would be the place to look.
