Default '07 400h: 5w30 or 0w20 oil?

We just got our '07 400H and I'm wondering what is the best oil weight to use. I know the owners manual says 5w30 but I've seen posts stating to make sure to use 0w20. This seems to be those that have an '08, but I thougt the engine is the same in both years?

Would someone give me the skinny on the correct or best oil weight to use for the '07 and let me know if the '08's are somehow different or if they are the same but Lexus just changed the recommendation to 0w20 to help the car save a little gas.

And is there a DIY site or write up for how to change the oil in this car?

Thanks!

Scott

You can run either. Where I live (it gets cold, something known as winter..lol) I run 0w20 in the winter and 5w30 in the summer. Do whatever you're comfortable with.

I changed our RX 400h oil for the first time, fairly easy, love the drip pan compared to other Lexus I've changed.

Thread helped me below

And yes either oil is fine.

Do you find that little drip pan under the oil filter actually works? I've changed the oil in my 400h several times, and find that the oil that comes out when unscrewing the filter seems to run BEHIND that little drip pan. I wonder if I'm missing a seal or something between that drip pan and the engine block..

I thought the 3.3 liter engine can't run 0-20w. I thought it was only revised for the 3.5 liter. Correct me if i'm wrong

Here is the TSB for 5W20. It applies to (among others) the MZ series of engines, which is the engine in the 330. You can safely substitute 0w for 5w. This is the cold viscosity. At operating temperature (which is where the oil will be the majority of the time) they are both 20 weights in viscosity.

I also checked with my Toyota dealer (since this is where I buy my Toyota 0w20) and he confirmed (by checking a long list of engines that can use the 0w20) that it was fine (the Highlander hybrid uses the same engine as the RX hybrid)

I reckon you use that stated on the car engine. Mobil 1 or Castro Edge does it for me and mine is 5w30
