Ziggy,

First, do not FREAK! Cold weather is the bane of hybrids. Sucks the life out. Spring brings new hope. Hang in there.

Once spring does arrive, keep in mind that a heavy foot is nearly as bad as cold weather for hybrids. My wife can drag mileage down from 28 to 22 in a day's driving. Technique matters, but not when it is cold. Wait till spring then practice if you still have a problem.

If careful driving and warm weather don't fix things, then bug Lexus and have them check the car. Maybe something is wrong, but it is too soon to know.

^^ I agree. The cold weather takes a toll on the mileage. I can barely get the RX warm in my short city commute. So I opt to use the remote start and keep the heat set around 70. Even a temperature change of a few degrees can make a difference. Once it gets warmer out, it'll be a whole different story.

I'm not worrying about the fuel efficiency at the moment. I realize that the cold weather takes a toll on ICE efficiency and that it makes hybrid efficiency worse as well. Either way, I'm still saving about 3L per 100 km travelled compared with my previous car the Lexus IS 350. I'm very happy with it thus far.

Folks,
This winter is probably the coldest winter we have in a decade.
My 07GS350 AWD dropped from 28 mpg to 21-22 mpg this winter. So I guess every car should experience the same mpg loss.
Just stopped by checking out Hybrid which is on my shopping list next summer.
