Mpg & e10

For my first ~6,000 mi (running nothing but Shell E10 premium, in Florida), I averaged 25-27 MPG (mixed city/hwy). Since then, I'm averaging 28-30 MPG (currently 30.5 with the warmer weather). Other hybrid owners likewise report an "extended" break-in time needed for the car to achieve it's best fuel efficiency. It's probably a combination of both the driver and the cars brains "learning" how to drive optimally.
I have not been able to find local stations with ethanol-free gas, but if I can continue averaging 30 MPG with E10, I'll be a happy camper.

I've been reading that the 450 won't start to get better mileage till it is broken in, 1500-5000 miles. You're getting better than I did at when it was that new. Today is the 1st time I broke 26, 26.2 actually.

Here's my MPG graph (cumulative since purchase) showing the variable performance over time. Colder weather, jackrabbit starts, underinflated tires, additional passengers (or cargo), short city trips or extended highway driving, etc. will all decrease fuel efficiency. I've inflated my tires to 34 PSI (cold), and removed my receiver hitch bike rack (which added weight and wind resistance), and now averaging 30+ MPG, which I'm quite happy with (especially in these days of absurdly skyrocketing fuel prices).

Using Shell E10, have averaged between 23-27 MPG (Average over 1st 2000 miles = 25) in Oregon. Not broke in yet and during winter months, so hopefully will get better as it warms up this summer. In a number of articles, I have seen that E10 will likely produce 5-10 % less power (BTU's), and one would expect a little less MPG w/ E10.
