Just curious, can you tell what features and/or options a car has by looking at vin no? I read somewhere that they mean something

And it's been a great car, has 26,000 miles and the Michelin's will probably make between 35 and 40 thousand miles. Over the last year it's averaged about 30 mpg on 93 octane.

I think mine was built in Sep or Oct, 2010 as a 2011 model. Not sure why they put the blue lights on mine but not the rest of you, especially 2011's. How do I know what month my car was built?
As I have noticed those lights have not come on when first turning on the car, but they come on afterward and even stop at red light. Certain times I don't see them at all. Certain times it's one side only. It's impossible for me to monitor when, why and how they come on.
Haven't had the time to drive to the dealer's service dpt and ask, 'cause that where I MAY get an answer. I can assure you that most salesman don't know about this that's why I don't even bother to call. Hell my salesman for the certified 2008 400h didn't even know where the wheel-lock key was! And the salesman for this 450h from a different dealer, he did not see the cargo cover was missing then he had to special order me one! I can go on with my experience and it will be a full page!
I love both cars.

Today I got on the technical information web site and searched without success. However I learned the part name of the dashboard piece where the blue LEDs seemed to be located:
No.1 Instrument Cluster Finish Panel
The round "plugs" are called:
No.1 & 2 Instrument Panel Hole Covers
big whoop.

My guess would be a radar detector I think the Passport or Escort models come with LEDs. Try driving by a supermarket entrance or find a cop using a gun and see if they start flashing.

Only time I have seen something like this if the vehicle has a radar detector with the led warning lights mounted in the instrument cluster.
Or I have also seen aftermarket parking sensors installed that have a led mounted like that.
